Because they are idiots, or drunk, or both.
I mean they designed thousand ton steel gates which are spring loaded to open when there is a power outage. Who does that? Idiots, thats who.
Then for good measure they designed ramps so the giant gates can be jumped over and essential generators shot at.

abstraction dude abtsraction.

if we could have, PGi would just make destroyable gates. But we do not have, and so PGi implemented something "somehow" sensemakign that simulates this: gats that pop open when a generator (attackable from outside) is destroyed.

this is just the way to implement an "destructible terrain abstraction"

Which brings me to the question: Why didn't they just make destructable gates?

This was my thought as well...

Remove the landing pad down low and stretch that mountain in between the two gates to meet with the sloping hills that everyone stands on there (e6 i think) and can hit both gates from one spot.

Forces the attackers to pick one lane and makes it hard to bail on the push or switch sides mid push but also cuts down ERPPC spam and ER LARGE LASER spam from the center on both gates. Would be a change for both sides as moving from gate to gate for the defender would take more time as well. Also give a hiding spot for both attackers to surprise people as well as defenders to set up traps.

I just feel like we can see way to much of each other the whole time on this map.

We have one easy CW map and one hard one.

I think that's reasonable.

Let's shoot for a couple of balanced ones next and then a few more that are on the opposite extremes.

Why would attackers always funnel troops down two valleys of death? Why can't attackers hit the base from the north or east or west? why is it always from the south?

Only answer would be a insurmountable barrier to the other 3 facings.

Yes, but since were talking about what people would do in real life (such as why make a easy to attack castle), why would attackers choose to attack a fortified position with the exact same numbers as the defenders and roughly the same tonnage?

In Invasion everything is slanted towards the defenders. They get walls, guns, predictable attack points, and the attackers get nothing. They can't out number the defenders, like would happen in real life when assaulting an entrenched position, they can't bombard the position with arty, and they can't bring bigger, badder armor than the enemy.

Defenders, yes, get to choose the ground a battle is fought, but the attackers get to choose the numbers, size, and time of an attack. That's missing in Invasion.

You honestly expect me to catch Sarcasm in a post that mimics exactly, with no exaggeration.. just about every single post I see from IS Pugs? I mean hell. I had a pug start a chat argument with me when he rushed in in a lone hunch back and got killed by 5 of us while his team was to scared to go through the gates. Of course.. he bitched about how clan mechs are so OP.. when there where 5 of us he tried to take on.

So what you want is for IS to just be able to bring like double the mechs to attack? Yeah.. cause zerg rushes aren't enough of a problem.

As for the clans it makes sense they bring Equal numbers, any higher numbers would of been bidded down before the attack.

No, I'm saying Invasion mode is very broken. Its an inch deep and limited. We've had it for weeks now and there are a handful of strategies used by the community. That speaks volumes about how incomplete CW is.

We want more, and frankly, expected more. That's why so many players have abandoned CW. Its not worth their time despite the bigger c-bill payoffs.

That mountain originally did stretch all the way to those sloping hills. But someone procured several thousand tons of explosives and shaved off a large section of said mountain. :D

Those are not steel gates. They're actually force fields. Those "gates" you see are just holographic projections.

Of course it's broken and shallow, it's 2 years late, it's in Beta, and its part of MWO.

Have you gone into the settings and checked to make sure you don't have arm lock active? That would cause the same thing you saw.
