Is this a random occurrence that evens out over time ? I've spent the last CW games with pugs facing large organized groups. How is that fun ? we got murdered every time.

Lol Aresye should know, his group was almost pushed back into oblivion by a few mercs. Things are better now though.

Well, considering CW is intended as the part of the game for 12-man teams working together as part of the 'hardcore' mode, yes, this is what should be normal. As for how fun it is? If your only criteria for 'fun' is winning all the time, then you probably should join a unit that fields 12-man teams for CW, and don't PUG. As I have said, CW is not aimed at PUG play, but full teams working together. If you don't want to face heavy odds that you will be badly beaten, make sure your team is working as a team when it is likely to face those that are.

I can say I have plenty of fun in CW. But then for me, it's about the strategy and tactics, not necessarily if I win, lose, or even fight.

it seems like a punishment for not being attached to an organized group, which seems fairs, as it's now provided me with incentive to find an organized group. I'm not mad. lol

You don't have to be part of a unit, there are many faction-specific TS servers that you can use to group up with other players.

^^This!!! is a great attitude! To everybody who has complained about big groups in CW, this guy is your role model. It's a team game, get a team!

We captured a planet with 2 so it seems quality will always trump quantity Aresye :) Plus if you look at our webpages roster, there are 20 of us. Though few are ever on :)

Nonetheless, 12 players is still the largest organized competitive gaming team size I have heard of so far. Most games stick with 4-6 being the largest group. Just putting this out there.

12mans vs. pugs is pretty much the sole reason the clans play. :3

Were you playing Defense? Against clans? Those are two strikes against you.

The reason why there are so many players defending on the clan borders is because those planets can be defended by faction, so you find the puggers all gathering on the same worlds.

The clans, meanwhile, have very few borders, and mostly ignore other clanners for the attack. To put it simply, If there's ever a clan 12-man, more likely than not, they're attacking one of those Inner Sphere worlds.

Part of the reason why the Jags and Bears have been so successful against the DC is that while we have some really excellent units, there aren't anywhere near enough organized units to put up a decent offensive or even a defensive on the five active borders that we have. as such, most of the Combine's defenders aren't actually from the Combine, but rather are a hodgepodge largely made up of Davion/Steiner players who don't use teamspeak and don't actually care if the world is lost.

Long story short, if you don't want to get pugstomped, stop pugging in CW. Get on teamspeak, and even if nobody else is in teamspeak, stay there. Sooner or later, the OTHER pugs should also get their crap together and start using the faction drops ability as well. You don't have to be a part of a unit anymore... just part of the same faction.

Now that we have faction grouping it will be harder to tell what is a pre-made and what isn't so this may become a much more common occurrence then people realize.

Agreed. It isn't about if I win or lose in CW it is for me the tactical battle.

Do I want to win? Sure. For that is awesome.

But I take as much if not more fun from a well fought, insanely close match. I can't wait for additional tactical layers to be added.

The Average TT "Official" game is 12 on 12. They usually go UP from there. This isn't your big brother's competitive game ;)
