Paid map packs was a bad idea in every other game

I am happy with free maps also then you aren't forced to pay to be able to play with everyone

Map packs are an absolutely bad idea.

If you don't buy it, then you can't get on that game.

This splits the community up more than it is now, which slows down getting into games...Do we want that?

you would just segment the player base even more because those who didn' buy the pack can't play the map?

Map Packs ruin games that don't have 6 million players eager to buy anything like Battlefield 4. But then again EA games is the worst video game company that constantly steals money from customers by making them pay multiple times for the same game. Releasing unfinished messes and making you pay for DLC to get on disc content, etc.

"not being paid" for maps is a fallacy.

World of Tanks makes enough maps that they can retire 2-3 of them for a while to rework, as well as 'tier limit' them while players are levelling a tank tree. They sure as heck didn't have any problem getting paid for that work.

You get paid when people want to play your game enough to give you money to do it. People want to when the game is engaging, interesting, and rewarding.

PGI still has a ways to go here but I think they have certainly been headed in the right direction, overall. Unfortunately they have a few long-standing issues that have been holding them back.

A shortage of maps, game mode variety (CW included here), and a near-complete lack of in-game social tools being the main ones I think. (Hello, massively MULTI player game that gives no MULTI player tools in-game? Woosh)

Lets hope these are all being addressed despite not being able to wrap them up in a sales package release. That's what the money we pay for the actual mech releases is supposed to do.
