The game says I have 4,999 mech xp, but when I went to unlock a skill for 3500 xp, it defaulted to my GXP. Upon closer inspection, "Mech xp" was greyed out for some reason and it was only letting me use GXP.

Why would it EVER default to GXP? When using GXP on a Mech skill, there really needs to be an "Are you sure?" Prompt. Or even better, since there is the new window to select the boxes, simply NEVER automatically select GXP, regardless of Mech XP amount.

For the record, this was for my brand new DWF-Prime.

Had you already spent some?

I have a bug after the latest patch where I unlock a skill with MXP but the MXP value doesn't update.
It does update in the database, but not the screen. Makes you think its there to spend, but its not and can trick you into spending GXP.

Exit skill screen after each spend to refresh the value.

Yup, I spent the GXP. I never select the GXP box, it has always been deselected so I got in the habbit of getting through the window. Someone had the brilliant idea of doing **** automatically. Like when windows used to be set to automatically download and install updates in the middle of the day or run virus scans even if you were already running stuff on the computer. And you'd be all bogged down until it finished. Someone finally realized that was a bad idea. Too bad PGI is 10 years behind the times.

He meant: Did you spent any Mech XP to unlock something else before trying to unlock that 3500xp efficiency (anchor turn?)? If you did, you might not have had enough MXP left so the system switched to GXP but the MXP value in the lower left corner had not been updated yet.

It's a problem one of the recent patches introduced, the value does not update correctly. You have to switch tabs to mechlab or home or purchase some other unlock for it to show the real number again.

If you contact support directly they might be able to give you your GXP back. You'd have to send an e-mail to them, though.

The GXP is not a big deal, I have a lot banked up, enough to max any one thing I want and I don't have the c-bills to buy it. But if I was saving for something in particular, this would be worth going to support over. It's just, what kind of bright idea was it to automatically select GXP? The whole reason the window with the select boxes was even put in was so that GXP wasn't used automatically. PGI just shot themselves in the foot, again. *head desk* moment.
