With the Steam Release coming up, the game is bound to get an influx of new players. So, I was thinking of a weekend challenge coinciding with this Steam release that would cater well to these new players, yet still be open to everyone.

So, I got to thinking, how about introduce a challenge where the player only gets scored when they’re in a Trial Mech.

We could base it off of Match Score for simplicity for the new guys:
Get 20+ match score and get a grab bag item.
Get 30+ match score and score a point.
Score 30 points and get either an IS or Clan Medium Mech.

This does several things- it encourages use of the MWO website (to get the grab bag items); it gives new players a little extra in addition to the begin 25 match CBill bonus; and it gives new players an opportunity to earn their first mech. That way they can use their CBill earnings to gear that mech up or buy a second chassis for leveling.

The downside is that those that aren’t playing such a challenge would be in far superior mechs. However, I think lots of people would be playing the challenge and, thus, leveling the playing field some for the new guys.

Just an idea, anyway.
