You win! Best tactic so far. Unless some one can top this.

Thanks DJ, I lurked the forums for a good long while before coming up with that plan.

Wait, you don't like it when you are ten seconds into the game and your group is wandering off into 12 diffrent directions? Is there a problem with the assault that takes a full minute to move from the starting spot? Are you insinuating that you can feel the dark shadow of the wing of doom pass over you when you watch your teammates, charging full speed to the center of the map, firing lasers randomly in typical lazer monkey fashion? When the guy in front halts at the entrance to a bottleneck and his whole team bumps into each other in 3 Stooges fashion? Then they all try backing up with the same slapstick technique? You don't like it when no one says a word on your entire team and then someone starts complaining that his teammates weren't backing him up? Or is it just the leaving the assualts behind?

We don't need no stinkin' assaults. They are slow and hard to see around. We are way better off handling it all on our own, then griping about our craptastic team for the remaining 13 minutes of the match.

even a dire wolf can manage to waddle its way at least around the 'island' on river city when it starts in the lower spawn, if

and this is apparently a big if

it actually turns and promptly walks that way at full throttle.

Don't sit in the damn spawn waiting to die and you won't die so early!

It actually works. You only lose one assault, whichever one was slowest, and then your whole team naturally collapses into a firing line to annihilate the strung-out enemy chasers. No coordination needed except for everyone to notice when the assaults are being attacked and actually head back.

Aside from losing one, this is correct. It is hopefull the team noticed the attack and turns before losing any mechs.

Remember that when one HPG Manifold you should check out that bowl shaped wall area near where the middle lance spawns. Just because there was no secret entrance to the centre area the last time doesn't mean this will still be the case, better be sure!

I can suggest this: while piloting a light, you can run towards any enemy assault or heavy in a straight line, directly.

So, while enemy team is loling and mocking (and not paying attention), the rest of your team can kill 'em all!

Also, Its best to stand in front of the biggest mechs possible on your own team as a spider/commando so when they try to move you can get them stuck. They love it

Taking a mech that generally isn't effective, building it with an absolutely ridiculous setup, and having fun with how goofy it is.

The Catapult K2 "WTF?"
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...441fe16c9deea8b

Four massive torso barrels! 2 SLasers so the arms have lenses....because. Sure the PPC barrels COULD go in the arms and the 1 ton of SLasers used instead for an XL255, 1 ton LBX ammo, or an additional DHS, but that's just silly talk.

Played only one game last night with it (Terra Therma) and got one kill with it and 400 damage.

It was funny to play though, so I'm pleased :D

When a team mate steps out of cover, be sure to block his way back into cover when he takes fire and retreats. He makes a great meat shield.

If an ally is blocking your shot, do not wait for him to move, instead, unload your full load into his rear exhaust port. Then, once you reload, and if hes still standing there, do it again. Repeat this process until he moves or drops dead.

A few other tactics for people to concider...

Take command and then don't bother issuing any orders (Don't worry the rest of your team won't pay attention to anything you say anyway)

Don't worry about firing into a melee. (PGI have made it quite clear that it's the other team mates fault if you hit them)

On Terra Therma its concidered rude to push into the caldera. Everybody must politely wait for other people to go first (this is doubly important when under fire).

On Forest Colony it's mandatory to push through the cave.

Experimentaly firing all of your Nova's 12 ER medium lasers togther at the start of the game is fine. No one will think badly of you for it.

Don't bother reading anything in chat. Everybody on your team is a pathological liar or jealous.

If in doubt, charge, You can berate your team later in chat if (when) you die

When you die it's mandatory to disconnect immidiately. Don't bother advising anybody of anything in chat (it's concidered to be cheating)

The funny thing is, I've seen this done at some of the higher competitive levels, intentionally.

For example, if you got a Dire Wolf handed the crap spawn on River City, there's no way for it to cross the water safely, and the team can't really come to defend it because that would require them to move into the complete open. In that case you just say, "Sorry m8," and leave them behind. They on the other hand, instead of trying to catch up to the team, stage a glorious stand where they do as much damage as they can, drop their arties, etc. This slows down their team, allowing your team to loop around and hammer them in the rear, forcing them into the open water.

this of course requires a team with enough coordination to loop around and make that surprise attack and take advantage of the rapidly changing situations. Which is never a given. (Ever.)
