The Season 5 EU championship should happen next week between Antares Scorpions and Black Spikes Mercenary Corporation. As many know the NA league did not end up having a season, due to low participation. However, the 4v4 leagues for NA and EU were both a great success with many teams participating. But we are going to have sign-ups open for all leagues.

This season we are going to introduce a major rule change, which has the intent of reducing the number of draws. We are going to play on conquest mode, but only Theta can be captured (the starting points cannot be uncapped). If the match ends without a kill difference, then the team that has the most conquest points will be the winner. While certain maps might slightly bias one spawn over another, due to how teams select which side they start on (i.e. Group 1 or Group 2), over the long-run this issue will have minimal impact on the final standings.

We intend to run swiss-pairing system for all leagues again, as this has proven to be a flexible system that creates good match ups. To address some issues in previous seasons, the length of the season will be determined by the number of participating teams, with a cap of 8 rounds.

We will not be limiting chassis options at this time. I am personally highly intrigued by the possibilities of seeing 4 dire wolves + 4 firestarters against 6 timberwolves, a stormcrow, and a firestarter, or perhaps 2 timberwolves & 6 Thunderbolts. With the mix of class and tonnage restrictions, IS quirks, and lots of maps, we expect to see even more variety than past years. Oh, and that reminds me. Due to the use of conquest mode, Alpine and Terra Therma are back.

As for the start date of the season, the plan is to start March 3rd, which is just after MRBC Season 4 finishes up, and I believe that Marik will be finished by then (or close to being finished) as well.
