Just wondering why the current meta is to pick the 3M running 4xSRM4+A (and 2 ML) vs. the 1N, which I run with 3xSRM6+A (and 3 ML)
The 1N has the better Alpha, and everything else is roughly a wash. I've heard people mention the SRM4's superior cooldown and DPS, but with the way the Griffin in general tends to play, in my experience, cooldown doesn't seem to stack up against the extra alpha.
I expect I'm missing something in the comparison, as I've been getting better but am still pretty skrubbish.

Why Grf-3M

The difference is in accuracy. The SRM6 are going to spread damage more. The key to this game is quickly disabling/destroying targets by focusing damage on certain components.,

The 1N has a tiny SRM6 quirk, and the 3M has the same quirk for SRM4, 5% range.
I don't think you're missing anything. I like the superior alpha as well, but 4 SRM4 is getting a little hot in the heat penalty area.
That being said, I don't run any of my GRF with more than 3 SRM or any ML. I opt for more range and run either a single PPC or 2 ERLL + 3 SRM4. Same loadout for both variants.
The 1S is the hardest for me. I like SRMs and 2 hardpoints are not enough in today's meta.

Based on similar engine profiles and maxing or near maxing armor....my opinion on which to take is purely based on how well you aim and your playstyle.
4x4A has a tighter shot group than 3x6 and again, faster refire rate. Additionally IF you have the self-disciplined style needed to get in, punch quickly and bounce out (using the GRF's great torso twist), the heat penalty for ghost heat is easily managed.
If managing heat is more of a challenge for someone, then the higher alpha of a 3x6 (again...downplayed a bit due to spread) combined with the slower ROF might make the 3x6 more valuable to someone, especially if they are still learning to get patient, deliberate shots off with the SRM's.
The ML's are purely for targets outside of a good SRM cluster's range and of course once you run out of ammo imo.

I generally agree with Lukoi, would just add that the 3M has tradition on its side, it's been the pick since the GRF released and it can retain at least one weapon if it loses its right ST (assuming no XL).
