Seriously, why wouldn't videos like these be integrated into the client for the 'new user experience'?

The first video explains things very well and while some of the others are more dated (like BattleMech weight class overview), recreations of videos similar to these would be insanely helpful to new players. I'm also sure NGNG would be more than happy to do an overhaul of these videos for use. D=

Edit: Modified my post, my initial one was poor and lackluster. Just like PGIs lack if New User Experience, lol.

This explains the core controls so well, and the later videos explain other, not so easily figured out things too. D=

An oversight by PGI, like so many others.

It is what it is. We had endless threads here about how to improve new user experience, and all we got after years is one tutorial that barely covers movement...

I recently introduced a new player and while he did say that one or two things were in the tutorial, way too much fundamental mechanics were not.

What is needed are a set of interactive, voiced and subtitled tutorials where you actually have to do things. This can be made lore friendly like in previous MW titles, too. But even if not, you need some time to explain, movement, weapons, heat, damage model, information warfare and so on.

Watching videos helps a bit, but it can't replace a tutorial.

I think before they launch steam they said they wanna improve new user experience. So they are going to do something on this after CW is mostly done.

Can't be done with modern technology.

Tutorials can't be sold for money.

Minimum viable product.

Whale-model.

Whale-model is basically how the big spenders pour hundreds of dollars into the game. New players are thrown into the queue like everyone else, they're plankton for the whales to consume in order to enjoy themselves, boost their KDR and feel like the money was well spent.

If all the veterans could only play people at their own level, and if new players were protected by the matchmaker or separate queues, we wouldn't be able to get 3+ KDR in the pub queue or roflstomp pug groups in CW. We'd have a 1.0 KDR, which would be boring.

Sorry, I've run out of bile and vitriol, so I'll just leave it at that. I'm sure some white knight will pop in to say that UI 2.1 may have videos or tutorials. I'm not holding my breath, personally.

The video plays while the launcher is installing for the first time. Additionally, clicking "training grounds" from the launcher will take you to that video.
