Got a FS9-S recently and trying to figure out how to build it. I find that lights can be frustrating when you get missiled (trying to get radar dep for this) and with all the SSRMs running around I thought why not try using dual AMS?

So how does this compare:

To this?

Maybe I'm missing something but both builds look the same to me.

Either way it is a pretty standard build minus the AMS. As you are worried about streaks and SRMs why not keep it and see how you like it and if you end up hating using AMS I would suggest removing it and putting the XL295 engine in it.

Yeah, I run mine with dual AMS. I mean, if you get a mech with dual AMS slots and MPL quirks, you build it with, surprise, dual AMS and MPLs. I put them in both arms and one in the CT, though.

Oh got it ha ha. Yeah that is the one that I see more people running. A lot of light pilots don't use AMS sense they are so fast they can get into cover quickly. But the AMS helps against SRMs and Streaks. Also if you have one of those engines try it first as it won't cost a lot of money to build. Those XL 280's and 295's cost quite a bit.

Yeah they do cost a lot. I fit the FS9-H and it cost me over 6m. 2/3 of that was the XL 295. I'm thinking about the XL280 because I would like to have two FSs available to use at the same time without switching engines...

The FS9-S is a very versatile mech with its 15% energy heat reduction quirk, so you don't always have to take the MPLAS. I've been running it lately with 6 MLAS instead, the extra tonnage makes taking dual AMS, jumpjets, and a max engine with a couple heatsinks no problem.

What about that? No really fast, but cool => gives it's DPS for a long time. http://mwo.smurfy-ne...4bf55cc44e81f1d

I've been running 7SPL with considerable success. The heat reduction is pretty nice. It kind of overshadows even my Locusts in terms of sawing off parts in a hurry.
