Hello Victor MechWarriors.

While not fully upgraded by any means, I've been piloting the following build with pretty good success - VTR-9B

Soon I'll have the Lyran engineers upgrade to Double Heat Syncs and ER Large Lasers, but for now, this Victor's been serving me rather well.

DHS are basically always good, yeah. The only thing with that build is that CASE has no effect in a build with an XL engine. There is a thread around here that explains it in more detail. You might consider putting the ammo somewhere else like the legs. Other than that a decent brawler.

If your end goal is the same build with DHS and you might actual be able to sneak by with out Endo steel if you don't want to buy a new engine.

Otherwise I'd use the left over tonnage for a larger engine.

Excellent feedback, I've already installed Endo-Steel and saving up for an XL-350 is next on the list after DHS.

Thanks to you and warner2 for the feedback. Good hunting!

You may want to consider this type of a loadout:

The reason PPCs are preferred over lasers for the jump assaults is that you can immediately torso twist and jump-jet rotate to avoid CT and ST damage. You can take advantage of your extra mobility to control the engagement. Exposing yourself only when you are ready to shoot.

See for example:

With the LLs you need to maintain the beam, which means you are taking a lot of damage. The higher DPS is not as important as how much more damage you can do than your opponent.

On the other hand it's a completely different playing style. Longer ranges. More use of cover, etc.

If you like playing the Victor you might want to catch some of the streams from JagerXII. He's one of the best assault mech pilots around and plays the Victor a whole lot.

Got my -9B fully kitted out, and I have to say, it's a surprisingly fun build.

I've been using this: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...cfca06c19264e5b

Only build that I've ever broken 1000 damage with. It doesn't look like much on paper but somehow it's worked really well for me. Maybe the enemy tends to disregard it because it looks so underwheming.
