I apologise in advance if this has already been suggested however I haven't been able to locate it anywhere. I have read several posts which debate the idea of allowing players to pick the maps they want to play, the most common response against this idea is that players will tailor their Mechs and make the game unbalanced and dull.
I will concede that this is a valid reason to continue map randomisation. The problem is that there are one or two maps which I absolutely *despise* and essentially suffer through until I am put out of my misery.
I suggest that as a fix to this problem, you allow the player to select a certain number of maps (maybe even as little as 2) that they do not want to play on, similar to the way that game types can be deselected. If I don't feel like playing Conquest I don't have to, so why must I endure caustic valley?
This way, there are still a variety of maps that I will be presented with and will not be able to tailor my Mech for more than one or two of them at most but I am still given some degree of choice and may elect to avoid those few maps that I simply cannot stand. This will in all likelyhood increase wait times for games, but I would rather spend 5 minutes waiting for a game than 10-15 suffering through one.

1. you are wrong on this one - allowing people to skip certain maps would allow them to use more specialized builds - you actually see that in CW - the first 2 maps (did not play the new map yet) are very similar in terms of favoured mechbuilds. As a result teams startet using highly specialized builds like Streak-Crows (as lighthunter) or TDR-9S (guess which weapons ...)
2. actually this was proposed several times allready - it was a bad idea back then and still is.

It would also hamstring the matchmaker with who can play on what maps etc... becomes a nightmare and wait times would explode
