After a bit looking around i found them on Sarna.net

http://www.sarna.net...ts/house_books/

These are the old House Sourcebooks for battletech. They go up to the year 3025. There are of course new and updated ones that have a more updated history, still these old books make for a great read, the scans are excellent.

Odd. Every time I try to open one, Acrobat says, "Expected a dict. object," then shuts down.

I guess my copy of Acrobat is an elitist or something.

I must admit, I'm less interested in getting the information, more interested in getting access to the old illustrations from the sourcebooks.

As great as the info is, I'm better off reading the latest versions of the sourcebooks to make sure I'm not inundated with errata.

...but that doesn't mean I don't want to see unseen 'mechs tromping around like a boss.

Since the book is mostly about background info on the house and its history there is not really that much errata, except for snips here and there. The old ones go to 3025, the new ones go to around 3067.

I like the old ones more then the new ones, the style is a bit different.

As for the old illustrations, depends on what your looking for, there is a lot floating around the net, from the mechs to unit decals.

That book is a lot easier to read in print form. *goes over to his shelf and removes it from its ziplock bag to read* :-)

Thank you! Thank you! I was just looking for these on the Classic Battletech page and it looks like they had taken them down. I love reading these such great in depth histories of the houses.

I have the old 1st Ed print copies but some of those have so much spine wear the pages are falling out. =( Good thing pdfs don't wear out!

I'll be honest. I loved every penny i spent buying the Old first run books. So much more detail. history. Depth about the very birth of humanity's time in space and how each house formed because off some act or person.

That is cool. I had forgotten most of the info in the book. I am glade you posted it Qin. I didn't want to have to search in the attic for my hard copy. [/color]

Very cool. These are worthwhile additions to my already extensive BattleTech library (which includes all the novels and a very large portion of the sourcebooks). Thanks!
