Hello everybody!

I'd like to introduce myself, I'm Andrew and I'm a 25 year old who goes by the call sign of 'SideSt3p'. I'm looking for anybody in the San Antonio Metro Area who plays BattleTech Table Top and is willing to teach me and play with me!

While I am a complete Rookie in regards to the BattleTech TT game, I have been playing Warhammer 40K for the last 3-5 years on and off so I have played in a TableTop environment. I will admit that I am a competitive person and I always strive to do the best I can. On the whole though I am very laid back and used to getting my butt kicked in a Table Top environment :D

I prefer IS based games because I love the 'Mechs but am fine with Clan Tech as well.

Also, are there any Local Game Stores in the San Antonio area which sell the Starter Set? I'd prefer to support local business if possible :D

Thanks all!

Check out Dragons Lair (intersection of Fredricksburg & Medical, near I10 and 410, about 5-10 mins south of the airport). I used to play with the group before I moved to Austin and never really reconnected after I moved back. I think their is two groups. one that gets together at the store and another that meet elsewhere I think. They I believe also have the box set, some mini's and map packs at the store as well. They also host Games Workshop tourny's and the like as well. So if your not already aware of them they are a great store.

Thank you so much Zephyr! I'm not so much in to the Games Workshop stuff anymore, the prices and rules are just to rediculous ($75 for a bloody plastic tank?? Rules that change every 7 months and cost $45 PER book??).

I'll just go in, tell my wife to go look at something and then profess my nerdom to the staff and see if they can hook me up :D

Its a great store. their used to be a stronger Battletech presence but the store was forced to adjust its hours after a night club that was (emphasis, was) next door had them change their hours on to not be open as late on fridays (the club was a massively disruptive among other things, they appear to have finally gone out of business). When if you get a dozen or two mechs on a battlefield games still take 4-5 hours. The shortened hours gave only about 2-3 hours to play it just wasn't worth it for the size group that was attending.

The store has a nice variety of products (anime rental, comics, toys, boardgames, ccg cards, RPG products posters and t-shirts, drinks and snacks too). Battletech stuff should be on an end-cap about 3 or 4 shelves in straight ahead when you enter the store. ((no I dont spend a lot of time their.... no really. only twice a week, a third on alternating weeks *grins*))

I didn't think Dragons Lair carried BT anymore. Last time I went in there they have a couple aerofighter mini's but that was it. No starter set and certainly no Mechs. Have they decided to restock?? If so, GAME ON!

I'm a little late to this thread, but I just moved to San Antonio and am looking for a group for BT/MW and other RPGs as well. I've been to Dragon's Lair and they are going to get me in touch with the group that meets there, but I figured I'd branch out as much as I can. ANyone still looking?
