Why are we forced to use camo that comes with Hero mechs?

I can understand making it exclusive to that mech and no other, but why stop me from *buying* a camo pattern I would prefer to use instead?

I just don't understand the logic. Is it a coding hurdle or something?

During the town hall meeting I think he said that we'll be able to use camo on our invasion resistance and hero mechs.

Later in the future, yes... i'd say in the next 6 months.

But for now, Russ exactly said NO. No invasion variant, Or any other special mechs ( i, p, L, r, f.), and No hero mechs.

Yes, we pay more money to buy Hero Mechs that are gimped when it comes to camo.

Ironically, the only Mechs that I think about actually buying camo for are my Heroes.

Oh well, money stays in wallet, PGI doesn't get it.

So in the near future I can change the camo on my Misery? I don't mind the wait, as long as the change is planned.

Funny thing is its a cool camo (shark face), its just that the primary color section is 95% of the mech, so when I try to use team colors it becomes a big yellow banana with a small box of white and black on the arm.

They aren't gimped. They are unique. Anyone who purchased a hero knowingly purchased a unique variant with a unique pattern. Just like the other special variants.

And yes, there will be the ability to change them some time in the future.

I think they have to make each individual mech work with the camos, so I assume there is some code hurdle.

No code hurdle involved. its just preparing textures. then it would be the flick of a switch.

The textures themselves are no hassle when they already have the camo texture prepared for non-special mechs.

I don't care about my hero-variants but I would love to change the camo on my invasion variants. But I bet that PGI won't address it. Yes, they said in 6 months or so but seriously. PGI said many things about minor changes and then "forgets" it later on. If someone brings that up in half a year, we will just hear another "soon" or "now is not the time because Clan Wave 4 is more important". My view might be pretty pessimistic but as long as their is no significant number of people wanting such a feature, it won't happen.

On the other hand, I'm still searching for someone who actually wanted 3rd PV so there's that. But thats another topic.

The only one I can think of ( from my collection ) is ember.

I would change that ( IF I USED IT ANY MORE ) no paint scheme seems able to help it.
