First, apologies if this has been brought up already, I did a Google search and a forum search as well as reading the patch FAQ and didn't find anything so here it goes...

I bought the wrath pack just after the deadline for the free King Crab (L) and so I decided to use some Karma Koin I got for Xmas to purchase the KGC-000. Now PGI decides to give me the KGC-000(L). Which is cool and all, except that in the Skill Tree they show up as the same chassis, so in effect, I still have only 1 KGC for the purpose of leveling.

Now I know the easy solution would seem to be to sell the standard KGC since it doesn't benefit from the C-bill bonus.. But I payed MC for this mech, so as you know, the exchange rate is going to royally screw me..

I am hoping that this is unintended since the other champion variants whose stats match a standard variant counts as a separate chassis (eg: the BJ1 and BJ1(C)).

If not, then I have to say I feel kind of screwed out of the real money I spent on the KGC-000 that is now in all respects useless except for a handful of c-bills I could get by selling it.

Champion 'mechs are just standard-variants with an xp-earning bonus and different stock-loadout. They do not count as their own chassis for 'mech-efficiencies, they share those with the standard-variant they are derived from.

The same goes for the (L)-'mechs, they behave just like champions but instead of xp they get a CBill-bonus and have unique (and unchangable) camo-patterns.

In short: yes your KGC-000 is now obsolete.

You should contact support and see what they can do.

The reality is that "special mechs" that take the place of the same originating variant share the same XP trees.

Please be aware of that in the future.

So be aware never to buy a mech with MC because they may later decide to make it obsolete? Ok, lesson learned I guess. I should have thought of that before purchasing the wrath pack as well I suppose.

Ok, I know.. Ranting here does nothing..

Fact is I am a little peeved. On top of the wrath pack I have purchased many hero mechs and months of premium time. What should have been a nice little reward and thank you ends up feeling like a kick in the nuts. I mean, that KGC was NOT a cheap mech. Far more than any sane person should spend on a digital representation of a fictional object.

I will contact customer support and hope they see the wisdom in what amounts to no real sacrifice on their part to satisfy a huge supporter of their product.

.

They do?
I was pretty sure a C was exactly the same chassis just with a bonus XP.
(Basically all the bracketed letter specials are the same as base version)

Hero's are a separate chassis, some of them are incorrectly marked with a C in their picture.

Well anyway I have the same situation, I paid MC for the 000 and later got the Loyalty version.
Good luck, I would be very happy to have the obsolete 000 turned into the third varient or MC back to go towards purchase etc.
Worst case I suppose the 000 sold pays for half the third varient, 5 million or so not that much overall.

No.

Be aware that any mech with anything in (-) counts as the same variant as the same name without the (-)

Thank you for doing your research though.

Only ones I know of that are is the GILE (the limited edition alternate version that came with a cockpit goodie)

It seems to be a thing for any alternate versions to get labeled with the C
