Just watched those leaked beta videos and noticed something interesting. Out of 10,000 invited beta testers only a tiny number are actually playing and testing the game. I expected atleast a few thousand players online beta testing at the time especially for such an awesome game.

Only 407 and 635 people online! Thats at most 6% of beta testers...which is pathetic

I say you look through your access logs and revoke beta test access to any people who have not logged in and played the game recently. Then redistribute these to the people who are still waiting and have been active in the community etc. I am sure you still have many many people waiting who will do a great job being active testing and providing feedback.

What use is a beta tester who does not test... :)

Yeah how dare they have a life and require sleep and food .... :)

Relax I'm sure they're doing a good job, don't hate on situation you saw a tiny snapshot, maybe it was just after the servers came back up, you don't know.

I know most of us would be playing 24/7 out of pure nerd power =P Or atleast every day. Those numbers just look terrible =\

I have heard that off peak US times they have like 50 people online and need to queue for ages before a match begins...

They may well be at the peak of what their test servers can handle with 400-600+ people online at a time. We know that is what is holding up more invites, and I am pretty sure the devs have a good handle on how their server load is looking. Lets give them time and the benefit of the doubt :)

Maybe out of 10000 beta invites they only got 600 people really interested in testing... The rest thought that they were getting some special demo and are now waiting for the completed project.

I guess that's about how many players where supposed to play in the early beta stage. They sent out ca. 10.000 keys, from those maybe 8000 will be used. Now factor in that many players only have limited time to play and that they may be distributed over many different time-zones, then I'd say around 500 players online at any given point is quite realistic. I guess there will be much more players on weekends and after working hours, but most likely the video was taped at a "normal" time when only few people where able to play.
I'm sure the Devs anticipated this. If there were too few players, they'd give out more keys.

If they aren't active, pull their keys. its easy to track online usage.

That footage could have been from an earlier phase of the beta, with less than 10k total out.

I WILL TAKE VACATION TIME, ALL OF IT, IF YOU GIVE ME BETA ACCESS, I WILL PUT IN OVER 20 HOURS INTO THIS GAME IN 2 DAYS, I PROMISE. IF I DON'T REPORT SUGGESTIONS, BUGS, EXPLOITS, OR PROBLEMS YOU HAVE LEGAL PERMISSION TO COME TO MY HOUSE AND BEAT THE **** OUT OF ME.

That should do it...

Those who aren't testing are quick to ridicule those who are, so it would seem. Why not just let the testers test. If you become lucky enough to test, maybe then we can critique your performance?

Jus' sayin',

It very well could be that they have several beta test servers. Each having a cap load of about 800. That number could be misleading.

Well naturally a company will let in more people if they have too many inactives. I'm sure Piranha is doing exactly that,

This could also be true. Instead of assuming it is 1 large server... realize that they might have a bunch of little ones.

...maybe it was 4 AM? Most games have decidedly smaller online populations at that time. I find the OP's assertion that the testers must be lazy a little... :)

Probably because the people who made 100 acts got 5 beta keys each and only play one.

Why because I'll affect the economy?
The devs need dedicated people to test and find bugs. I'm willing to be dedicated as much as a resonable human being can, some are less reasonable than I, but I have an IT background, been working in IT for about 8 years, and understand what is going on in the background of a gui.
You? Mr. 101?

I believe this is explainable in a few ways, I've tested many betas in my years of gaming. I find these are the main issues we're seeing:

1) patches only come out every now and then, once you've played a good chunk you tend to wait until the bugs you found are fixxed and the new patch is out to investigate.
2) People have lives, they work, sleep and have this thing called "social interaction" I know, what a strange concept...I should cross that out..
3) How much can a person play in a day, week, month?
4) what time of day was it, midnight, 1Am, 10am?

so to sum it up.. I don't get bored easily, I have no life, I can "work" on my projects for hours upon hours at a time and I'm always awake... So devs,,, *hint hint* :)
