So if I got wounded in battle twice, I should except to get two different medals one each to mark the number of times I was wounded?
Sorry, but your illustration is flawed. The Operation 24 medallion was more like a
Campaign Medal. If you served in the United States military during Vietnam, you would receive
this. If you served in the Korean War, you would receive
this. Notice how they are different? They each signify participation at a different location and historic event.

It doesn't signify anything special besides cool decor in someone's cockpit.
This is also incorrect. The Operation 24 medallion showed that the user was present when the game released. Beginnings and anniversaries tend to hold significance for people so we like to have reminders that show "I was there" and, when spectating someone else, "so were you".
I realize I'm unlikely to change your mind and you're unlikely to change mine. But please don't try to trivialize something just because you don't feel the same way. If PGI agrees with our arguments why we'd like the distinction preserved, they'll do it. PGI knows how much work it will take and they alone get to make the decision.
If you want to influence PGI's decision, please come up with a better argument than "it's stupid" backed up by inaccurate statements. Even "don't waste time on it, I want more Mechs and maps" would be a better argument than the one you gave.
