Yes, it needs a client patch to add that and they arent going to push out a patch just for a dumb medallion.

Patch is due in a couple of days, perhaps they have added a new version in there? Perhaps they havent because its just an easy "award for turning up" challenge so no big deal. Wont know until patch day.

:o On Valentine  Weekend?!?!?! Dude! Anyone with a Wife, girlfriend or female companion...or just a companion in general won't being this Challenge...That is, if you know whats good for you and your relationship!   I might be able to sneak  in a bit on Sunday... I foresee me, not doing well in this challenge... Got Flowers, dinner and 50 Shades of Gray to see with the wife..... and then...well, it does get dark later than night... ;)

L.O.L well, I find it even more incredible, that with CW struggling to get a population they make an event where only arena fighting counts.

B.T.W, S.W.T.O.R is having a double xp weekend, so I guess all the games companies, see divorce and, seperation as a good thing, more sad Emo's in basements with nothing to do but mash buttons ;)

They all have brothers-in-law that are divorce attorneys. It's pure nepotism.

Can't you just focus on WINS? Everytime in a teamplay-game challenge PGI focuses on activating player's kamikaze-moron-ability...

EDIT: language

Strangely, I was able to focus on mode objectives, not so much on kills and still get it.

I jumped in the DWF and got this done in no time....

24 assists happened in about 3 games playing just my normal style. For the Kills I was a bit more greedy....

Different colour or a "II" below the 24?
When can we expect the founder mechs for cbills?

Why do they have to redesign it? Because you said so? Should they also re design the Xmas trees they give out for Christmas? The Snow globes? No, these are the items. If you have one already then don't bother doing the challenge or dont use it.

But LETS DEFIANTLY keep complaining about free things...makes us look better.

and to answer the second part of your question....never. They have never once said they would make founder mechs available to non founders. Why do you want founders mechs anyway if you are not a founder?

I made it. Was pleasantly surprised I didn't want to tear my face off with this challenge.

That was a good challenge, started and finished with the KCG-000B which is now decorated and made good use of the premium time.

Thank you

Well... That was... interesting...

First things first: Thank you for the premium day, some of which is still left.

Assists: Completed with ease on Friday.

Kills: Ummm... *nervous chuckle* I scored ONE kill within the allowed time, the second one was disqualified because the match overran the ending time by about 4 minutes. To add insult to injury... I got my kill on a LOCUST... which has exactly one medium laser for offensive measures. :D

Two things. First, the Operation 24 medal is not the same as the Xmas tree for the following reason: it cannot be purchased in the store. PGI made it that way specifically to make it "special" and a sort of "I was there" kind of thing. If you spectated someone, and they had it hanging in their cockpit, you knew something cool about that person with absolute certainty. Now you still know something about the person, but you know a lot less than you did. Which 24 did they participate in? The old one? The new one? Both? You have no idea anymore. For a lot of people, that's slightly less fun. A simple color change would completely remove this problem.

Second, I don't think it hurts to ask. I agree we shouldn't be acting mean about it, but what's the harm in asking PGI to put in a little extra work to keep their special items special?

I agree in that the Mark 2 medallion should look different for that very reason.

Come on, you really think that's the only reason I think it should be changed?
Besides that I'm obviously not the only one.

Christmas decoration usually doesn't change. Strictly speaking it does, at least the colour of the christmas balls does or at least the date, but anyway.
In this case it just would've been nice to keep the first OP 24 medallion unique. Not only for the ppl who got it, but as a little part in the whole business modell of MWO for PGI staying successful with this game. Collecting stuff lies in the nature of man. Showing the collected stuff is what we like. Especially if it's something special or unique.
So why not doing more challenges with more different medallions? I'm not speaking of programming new content from the ground up. It's just a little modification of an already existing item.

I think you didn't get my irony there.

So if I got wounded in battle twice, I should except to get two different medals one each to mark the number of times I was wounded? Please its a medal for a video game accomplishment. It doesn't signify anything special besides cool decor in someone's cockpit.

Sorry, but your illustration is flawed. The Operation 24 medallion was more like a Campaign Medal. If you served in the United States military during Vietnam, you would receive this. If you served in the Korean War, you would receive this. Notice how they are different? They each signify participation at a different location and historic event.

This is also incorrect. The Operation 24 medallion showed that the user was present when the game released. Beginnings and anniversaries tend to hold significance for people so we like to have reminders that show "I was there" and, when spectating someone else, "so were you".

I realize I'm unlikely to change your mind and you're unlikely to change mine. But please don't try to trivialize something just because you don't feel the same way. If PGI agrees with our arguments why we'd like the distinction preserved, they'll do it. PGI knows how much work it will take and they alone get to make the decision.

If you want to influence PGI's decision, please come up with a better argument than "it's stupid" backed up by inaccurate statements. Even "don't waste time on it, I want more Mechs and maps" would be a better argument than the one you gave.

@Domenoth: While I personally do not get the second medal (because I failed the kills part miserably :( ), I do agree with you that it would be nice, if the the two medals were visually different. In my humble opinion, the easiest option would be to give the second one a different colour. That would make it unique and SHOULD not take an excessive amount of programming time. In the absolute best case it might be as easy as: Add new hanging item template, copy old medal in, assign new colour to replace old, save, execute during next patch or something along those lines. After all, we are talking about just ONE item, not recolouring the entire Viridian Bog or giving all Ravens a different nose geometry. :D

Got my second OP24 medallion after:

Friday- Old drinking buddies descend for a catchup.
Saturday- Valentines. Creeping and begging, but I still wasn't allowed to play MWO ;)
Sunday- Missis Th'Wench's birthday.

Now if PGI thinks I'm happy with an identical medallion to my shiny first challenge award they're greatly mistaken!
I want a banner in my cockpit, "MY AIM IS OFF 'COS THE WIFE IS PUNCHING ME" :P
