Stalker 4N is a very good LLas 'Mech, but if you don't like missiles, you will likely not master it due to the other 'Mechs being largely Missile focused. Any of them is a great support 'Mech though and you might enjoy them regardless.

3H with LPLs and Misery. The only missiles I ran or run on mine are SRMs on the 5 and 3F. Stalkers rock NOT as lrm boats

You are confusing a Missile centric chassis with an LRM boat. The Stalker is a fairly mediocre Missile boat, due to its comparatively small tube counts. What it does very well is being a direct/indirect hybrid multi-range support (say that a few times fast lol). Using lasers exclusively is immense wasted potential on the chassis (except for the 4N, wich is currently just broken with how good its LLas are).

Can't say much in the way of long range heavy/assault mech, but an ADR makes an excellent fire support mech I don't have a picture but here is how i arrange my weapons (keep in mind you may need to switch omnipods around as well)

Left arm: SRM 6
Right arm: SRM 6
Left torso: large laser
Right torso: S-SRM 6

Simply put this is the build I run on my ADR-A so far my best game I picked up 4 kills with it. What you need to do is stick with the assaults and heavies and, well provide fire support which is what you wanted your mech for. Tip: do not go off on your own with this build

@Zsword
By the Large Pulse Laser TDR, you mean the 9SE right? My personal suggestion for it (since it's one of my favorite mechs) is to run it focused on power. I go with a xL 280, 4 large pulse lasers (two LT, two RA),and two JJ CT. Then put however many heat sinks in.. Endo, about half armor on left arm with a tad off legs [maybe head]. It's more alpha and range than a dual ac20 jager, with unlimited ammo, and more manueverability to boot. Main downside is the reload after an alpha is significant, so chaining can be important. Watch the heat on hot maps, but other maps should be fine.

Hey guys, bringing this back up because I've got another question: What's a good medium mech for using AC 2-10? I'm curious to try Ballistics and do some fire support with a medium, but don't know a decent mech for it. (if there's an outsanding Assault or Heavy for mid/long Ballistic Fire support that'd be appreciated as well. :U)

One of the hunchbacks (G or H?) has some ac10 quirks, while another has ac20. If you want a killer ac5 mech, though, you have to go with one of the Dragons. There's one with quirks that make its ac5s fire almost as fast as ac2s, and it absolutely wrecks face. One of them almost cored my timberwolf before I got off two alphas. I actually had to run away from it so as not to die.

Actually, it looks like the Wolverine is right up the alley I was looking for, I'll probably pick it up and give it a try for awhile. ^^

"direct/indirect hybrid multi-range support"

Heh :)

And good advice on not wasting the potential of the Stalker chasis by boating it. I hadn't considered that.

Jager A with 2 ML 2 AC2 and 4 LRM5 worked for me as a support 'mech. Some people would think it sounds terrible but it worked. If they had no AMS i would chain the LRMs and if they had AMS i'd group it. The AC2 were annoying and had good range and damage if they stayed in line of sight and still had the ML for backup weapons.

Just to illustrate my point, take the Stock 3F for a minute. 2 LRM10, 2 LLas, 4 MLas and 2 SRM6s.

Let's start with basic upgrades, Endo Steel, a STD 300 and DHS. Add an AMS due to the CT being a LRM magnet, throw in 2 more tons of LRM ammo and provide the 'Mech with a BAP for extended sensor reach and faster Paperdolls of wounded 'Mechs.
Stock+ 3F

But like this, we've got pretty bad heat management and the SRMs don't mix too well with lasers. So what I like to do is take SSRM2s, drop down to a single ton of ammunition and increase the heat efficiency significantly with additional DHS, though we can't take as much LRM ammo to get the full out of them.
(Semi-)Stock+ 3F Mk.II

Like this we've got heat neutral LLas and firing 2 MLas and both Streaks will keep you heat neutral as well when running hot at short range, all in one fire support package that can hold its ground against other 'Mechs not by being the best it can be in one thing, but by competing in everything else, trying to abuse weaknesses.

When it comes down to it, you can play the Stalker however you like, but this is how I ended up falling in love with the chassis.
