Elementals and vehicles

Personally, I can't imagine having the clan invasion without elementals; More so then omnitech (which translated as greater versatility and reduced maitainence), the elemental meant that even the most powerful of mechs could be brought down by a small team of infantry. Until melee combat is optimized they won't be worth a damm though.

It would add depth and to the game play as you could no longer just think about the other mechs. It would also add immersion since the battlefield would likely be larger, with a lot more going on and to think about (and it could add another layer to the commander role). Finally, it would keep the game a mech warrior game, but change it up a bit.

--Aerospace: You gain/develop the rank/prestege to purchase an aerospace fighter. It goes in your hanger/dropship and you can add a "command channel" to your cockpit coms systems. Now you can designate it for a tough mission if someone else has an "additional assets" marker as well. It lingers overhead for a set period of time and you can call upon it to do straffing/bombing runs on a designated spot. If the enemy moves, wasted ammo, if your buddies move into the spot/area, you just committed friendly fire. Between missions you would also be responsible for reloading, refueling, and repairing the fighter like any of your mechs. (maybe have a nice interactable AI voice for the pilot)
--Artillery: Purchase and add to your hanger/dropship. Place in edge of battle map or even off map to enable you to call arty vollies (would be a great add on for light/rcn mech pilots). On or off map would just be for whether or not the devs wanted your opponents to be able to find and kill it. As with anything else you must rearm, repair, maintain it.
--Armor, elementals and infantry: You hire/purchase supporting troops. Whether you assign them to point defense or roll with you engaging as you engage would be up to you. Do you set them to watch a critical location, guard the objective, roll along on your flanks or even push forward to try and flush out your enemies...all dependent upon your style of tactics. Of course between matches you must repair, rearm tanks and elementals as well as hire replacements for casualties/losses.
We are the mechwarriors elite, we should command and lead such inferior forces, not be them lol. This is just some of my ideas on the possibilities of the subject. In the end, we are at the mercy of the devs though with any such things a balance would need to be established. If you are a high end elite crew there would need to be limitations on what you could do especially if facing a newbee crew or it will just drive new and inexperienced players away.

I'm not saying don't add this or that but just making a personal observation about having to many options in a game.
That looks to me that the devs destroyed their own game.
A game with mechs that there is no point in playing as a mech since the other options are superior.
I hope that that won't happen to MechWarrior Online in the coming years.

Situation like that been there for some short period between patches. Last time I was playing it everything been perfectly fine - yes, Aerospace could kill mechs nicely, but at the end of the game ALWAYS Mechwarrior pilots ruled the scoreboard, no matter how good pilots were out there in the sky. They are annoyance that can be used nicely for strategical advantage - nothing more, nothing less.

In many cases in MW universe it's been other way around - vehicles led Mechs (usually command stuff from HQ vehicles, but there were also cases when commanders took part in a frontline battle leading from a tank, often leaders sit in dropships leading strategical aspects of operations while Mechwarriors just followed orders in same fashion as aerospace pilots did).

We came up with a game type where everyone would pick an Elemental, and one person would pick an Atlas or a Ragnarok and it would be David's vs Goliath, or Godzilla as it was more commonly called online.
Mechassult remains to this day on my top five list of best online games, it was so well balanced. I wish SOMEONE would do an Arcade release for the 360.
The second game was rubbish, and it goes back to the first comment to the OP, too many options.
TL;DR: Elementals are fun, and I'd like a rerelease of Mechassult XD

I totally agree on this one.
And yeah, player driven tanks in living legends are annoying, primarily because they're very small, and often heavily armored. Devs even said they were overmodeled, to give them a chance against mechs. I'd love to see vtols, airstrikes tanks and elementals. Strictly ai controled that is.

As well mentioned earlier adding anything becides mech will thin out the amount of people in mechs drastically.

everyone starts as an elemental and there are numerous tanks, mechs and jets available ob the map - preset to keep it balanced.
or a planetside 2 approach where you are able to "warp in" your personal vehicle, be it a specific mech or tank. that way the variety of personally customized mechs could be kept.
any ideas?
but well... a mechwarrior game should stay about MECH warfare. though i wouldn't mind npc-controlled turrets and vehicles for base defence.

Anyone can imaging it becoming 25 v 25 with half of the numbers being made by by infantry, tanks and air units. The game might get there, one small step at a time. It has to stay MechWarrior and these other units would need to have some other purpose i.e. map related objectives that tie into larger story lines and so on.
Mechs cannot capture civilians right? They can't enter buildings. There is a whole side to the maps that has to be ignored as Mech pilots. Question is, how much will it need to be ignored by the developers as they create maps and objectives? There are thriving cities and economy on some worlds. At some stage we will need to interact with it.
Again though. I can see it being in many years.

You sir, need to find better servers...I have almost never seen this happen.
Yes folks take out whats best for the situation, yes the usual abusive twits we see everywhere do things that annoy with them, but to say there's no incentive to take a mech means you've never REALLY played it for any length of time. BTW, their name thing has been gone over til blue in the face, they did what they could for a name, get over it, blame the lawyers.
