One of possible combat types would be some type of "best of 3" combats at a sequence of maps, you are limited by the dropship. Between the maps everyone have a limited ammount of money or spare parts to repair, or they can change for a new Mech from a limited amount of Mechs. The spare parts and Mechs you choose before the mission starts.

Would be like a long range mission, at a distant planet from yours - you have limited ammo and resources to bring on, and sometimes will be forced to play with an already damaged Mech.

They this possibility, why not use to add more tactical choices? You will need to win 2 of 3, 3 of 5 maps combats for example.

So the missions will be much longer even if each battle is short. The combination of map environmental conditions will limit the choices of Mech setups, you will never be able yo be efficient at all of them so a tactical choice of Mechs to bring, weapons and ammo to have spare to at leas be efficient in the majority of maps. Who knows what maps the other team choose to be optimized!

Would be the WAR type of match!

3 mechs from a dropship seems like more than enough. Not really liking the salvage part where you reconfig your mech so much. Its not like someone on the ground is salvaging parts and beaming them to your dropship. And mech battles aren't like MMO battles. They dont need to last 45-60min to be good. Seems like 10-20min games would be fine and you would be able to keep doing them in rapid succession so its not like your waiting around for long.

And I'm not digging the many posts about repair/rearm stations. In MW4 they didn't add to the experience they took away from it. Let the end of a battle be the time to rearm and reconfig. Exit the game, check the star map and queue up for your next drop. Or take some time to spend your earnings and pick up something new.

Interesting idea, gives a bit of a gauntlet feel to it, with limited resources, and if you dont know all the maps going in, it will make for interesting matches. Easy to implement too I would think, game wise. Heres an idea, for three map matches, each team chooses one, and one is randomly generated to make a set of three. Then they are played in random order. Five map matches could have a "pick one or two maps per team" option, with the rest random. Amount of repair / ammo and mech changability between matches I'll leave to the game balance experts. :D

And the discussions and debates between them would be epic :D
