I think im gonna stick with the upper end of the medium spectrum, a hunchback. It has as much armor as the catapult. If it plays like tabletop I should be able to drop the ac 20, get 2 srm 6 packs, 4 medium lasers and an extra 2 heat sinks. Its roughly the same speed as the catapult too. I think that the weight class of the mech will contribute to the cost of repairs, but the real reason is I just like the sexy design piranha has come up with for the hunchback, vast improvement over how I have seen it before. Also something about arms and hand actuators that attract me.

Blood, sweat, and tears.

Keep in mind hardpoints for upgrades and there's posisbly some restrictions in regard to new tech and engine mods.

It is similar, but not identical to tabletop Battletech. Watch the Mech Lab video

Hard points are the key difference at thins point. If you played MW4, you know about the idea.

Change the CPLT-C1's 15 heatsinks into 12 Double heatsinks. Add CASE, add ferrofiberous armor. Double the ammunition.
In otherwords, buy a CPLT-C1 to CPLT-C1b refit kit.

I'm thinking a pair of 12" woofers, along with about a k watt amp, maybe a small dvd screen.
leather, defiantly leather. getting rid of the stock bucket seat and going with a capt's chair for the cup holders.
Carbon Fiber heat sinks, cold air for the reactor, new chip
Really have to see what Piranha is going to charge in the mech lab.

I thought I understood it well enough. The ac 20 took up 10 slots, and the srm 6s looked to take up 4 each. Should they not both fit in there?

Its not just critical spots - it is the number of a given type of weapon (ballistic, energy, missile) that can go in each section of a given mech chassis. There will be a version of the Hunchback with more energy hardpoints instead of the big AC20, and I think maybe one that mounts missiles there instead as well... but no variant I know of that had both missile and ballistic spots.

but i believe the hard-points are what will restrict you. if you take off a balistic wepon, you have to replace it with one, not a missle system. that is what i gathered from the mech-lab break-down

Swap out the AC20 on a Hunchback for a Gauss Rifle and add another Medium Laser or 2 and you'll have my dream ride

I love 5/8 heavies and 6/9 or better mediums in table top (though I tolerate 5/8/5 mediums), so I'll probably aim for the same thing here.

Take a stock Catapult, tear off the LRM 15s and replace them with as many SRMs as possible.

Upgrade the armor on the Centurion and the engine for a bit more speed and heavier armor, swap the single heat sinks out for doubles. Drop the AC/10 to a UAC/5, downgrade the LRM-10 to an LRM-5 with Artimis, upgrade the medium lasers to medium pulse lasers.

Not going to get my dream ride until the Blood Asp shows up (******* 3059, hopefully we'll get a couple time skips), but I'll work with what we've got.

Take a Catapult, remove the LRM-15s, replace each with 2 SRM-6 and 2 tons of ammo. Convert to 14 double heat sinks. Remove the Jump Jets, add 3.5 tons of armor, add ECM. Might drop ECM or a heat sink for CASE.

It's very convenient that 2 LRM-15s and 2 tons of ammo weigh exactly the same as 4 SRM-6s and 4 tons of ammo. Hopefully the arms have enough space.
