One problem in CW:
1. Winning or losing a planet should MEAN something.
2. Planets should be UNIQUE in a way.
My proposal:
- Every planet gets 4 new attributes:
Clan successfully defends territory, IS successfully defends territory, Clan conquers planet, IS conquers planet
- Completion of these goals would lead to economic bonuses.
For example:
"Clan successfully defends territory": For each successful defense, the CB-prize of Clan-Mech A gets reduced by 0.5%.
"IS successfully defends territory": For each successful defense, the MC-price of IS-Mech B gets reduced by 0.5%.
"Clan conquers planet": One specific Camo costs only 80% of the original price.
"IS conquers planet": Mechbays cost only 90% of the original price.
(You can get creative with bonuses, of course.)
- Bonuses only count for short period of time.
Every 3 months, there would be a 3-day period where these bonuses count for transactions. Afterwards they get reset.
- The spoils go only to the victor.
We would need a mechanism to ensure that only members of the faction who unlocked these bonuses get to profit of the bonus. (Maybe like this? "Surprise! Big sale 1 week from now! Entering a new faction has temporarily been disabled!")
* Every planet would have unique bonuses. They would give each faction a unique incentive to attack/hold/ignore/sacrifice this or that planet.
* Some planets would be more valuable than others. (Conquering and holding Tikonov would give bonuses for buying Cataphracts, Quickdraws and Thunderbolts... Conquering and holding Hesperus II would give bonuses for buying Griffins, Banshees and Atlases...)
* Movements of the frontline would directly translate into economic consequences for individual players.

Interesting idea. I would like to think, after the bugs/issues with CW get worked through a bit; the various planets would be worth something, persay.

It's definitely something that would improve the gameplay in factions a lot. I've had a few similar ideas myself
-Capturing a planet needs more incentive. If each planet has a universal income that pays out at the beginning of each ceasefire, then players will have way more of a reason to fight for territory
-Bonuses earned each ceasefire are determined by the player's rank and how many planets that faction controls. Each rank has a base income bonus that goes up if the player helps take a planet or defends it from invaders successfully. If a planet that earned a player a bonus is lost, they lose the bonus it gave as well.
-Smaller factions pay out less overall, but pay out more evenly between ranks. This means that there's still incentive to play factions outside of whatever the current galactic powers are.

the problem with mech discounts is that a lot of players already own many of those mechs. For those players, offering a discount on mechs is an entirely useless prize for capping a planet. Instead of discounts it would be better if conquered planets gave you bonus cbills instead. Like every day you get X cbills for each planet your faction controls that you helped captured.
Additionally I think there should be faction specific weapon and hero mech unlocks. Like Kuritans could unlock prototype MRMs at a certain rank. Davions could unlock prototype Light ACs. Each faction could also have their own unique hero mech that unlocks at a certain rank. That encourages players to rank up in different factions to get all the unlocks... it would help keep each faction populated.

Bad idea. People would simply start camping. Extra C-bills are okay, but not as a permanent buff, only as a reward for actually doing something.
"Your faction conquered Rasalgethi. You get 100,000 CB during the next reward-phase."

The problem is that we already know we will get rewards for owning certain planets, so I reckon before we say we want X, Y or Z reward from planet W, we should wait and see what PGI has up their sleeves before we state what we want, this will allow us to give better feedback to PGI as CW comes closer to full release.
