In short: my laptop internal microphone works perfectly fine and consistently, but I can't get VOIP to transmit when I'm using an external device.

Just as an aside, I notice in the linked Reddit post that you mentioned you don't see a pop-up for your own name when attempting to transmit. Under the current implementation there actually is no visual feedback provided to signify when you are transmitting.

If you've confirmed with people through chat that they really can't hear you when you engage PTT, try de-activating 'Exclusive control' for that external device.
  • Right-click on the speaker icon in your Windows taskbar and select Recording Devices
  • With your external input device selected, click on the Properties button
  • In the Advanced tab, un-check the ‘Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device’ box and click OK.

Correct. I see my name over the minimap. Not when I push the button, but when I talk.

Well....serves me right for not getting my headset back from QA after the build was final.

Good stuff, but I already tried it and no luck. =/
Really thought I was onto something when I ran across it though.

I've put up an official Wall Of Text regarding VoIP troubleshooting.

I will look again when I get home, but I am pretty sure I have done all of this>

Alexander, if we have TS installed on our PC's what settings/checkboxes should we set in the options to completely emulate how you guys have it setup for testing?

example:

voice activation while using PTT
Legacy voice activation detection
remove background noise
automatic voice gain control

Echo reduction/cancellation.
