Light Mechs can be fun I find, I have a ball with them in MWLL all the time, but until more advanced tech comes out, IS mechs IMO just can't mount the level of equipment needed to be able to scoot and shoot, especially if and when the Clans come stomping in

Use to play 'The Stinger Shoot out' at a locat convention. 10+ Stingers on a 30x30 circle board. Charging, kicking, death from above... heck, the MGs were even important when you were down to a single arm.

Classic mechs for classic fun.

I'd go for a Wolfhound, a Javelin, a Panther, or a Jenner. Also, it's not yet available, but I'd love to pilot a Bear Cub. A little 25-tonner with an SRM-4, an LRM-5 (and the ability to swap out either of those launchers to specialize at a single range), two medium lasers and a small laser. It's also quick as can be.

More to the point, though, its sarna artwork cracks me up. Looks like a dangerous mech saying "I just want a hug! Let's be friends!"

i'm not sure if they will be included, given the timeframe, but i hope to be able to pilot battle armour... :)

(when i eventually have a machine capable of running MWO)

I am a fan of the hard hitting Light scout/Harasser Mechs, so the Panther and the Valkyrie. A light Mech hunter should be able to shoot it's victims at ranges that allow it to avoid reprisal. The Hollander is a bit of to much of a good thing. When your Mech is a Gauss on legs, you are going to die and respawn a lot.

Of course the Wolfhound is the best of the best in this vane.

Is it just me or does the title of this thread sound like the OP is leading into thrashing Light 'Mechs?

Anyway, I like both the Jenner and the Valkyrie.

That's what I expected too. :)

Lights were always some of my favorites. Especially the ones where the designers decided to see how fast they could get something to go without having it burst into flames (unintentionally at least). I'll probably only get to pilot lights in the random matches though. Stupid commander responsibilities. Interesting quote on the commander's Battle Grid, I hadn't seen that before.

I hate to flame or troll but ... you all like light mechs right?
and .. so... nobody remembers crashing into walls all the time with light mechs (especially in 1st person) in city maps?

I like em too, in theory...

You referring to the skidding/sliding rules for changing directions at high speed?

no actually I'm talking about using them in pc sims - MW2, 3, 4 etc... from the mech names I've seen being thrown about i guess most posters here are referring to their TT experiences...

Have to say ... I love me those Jenners. Ever since the opening of Crescent Hawks Inception, where you have to escape the training grounds while outrunning the lance of 4 Jenners I have always kept a healthy respect for them.

I still fondly remember the tough little commando that got me through many of the early missions in MW2

Panther all day long and twice on sunday. I have to say tho that my second favorite is the Jenner, followed by the raven. all three mechs are WAY better once Clan Tech is used but even with IS tech, YUMMY!!

I have serious reservations for MWO tho. It kinda sounded from the interviews like there was going to be ALOT more urban fighting, city streets are NOT light mech friendly. for that you want a hunchback or something with enough armor to back out of a tight spot.

I personally preferred the Owens in MW4, but since the timeline hasn't advanced yet I can live with the Jenner since it's just a later derivative, other than that gimmie a Raven and I will play tag out on the battlefield.
