"Jaeger" is the original form of the word in german if im not mistaken

However on comms I can guarantee people will say jagger mech. In the same was people pronounce Potato differently.

Sure it doesn't have the umlaut above it, but whatever.
It means hunter.
If anything it is an English adaptation of the German word. Yah-gur or Jagger is acceptable.

and the JAEger versions seesm more tied to names then nouns

Take for example the german AFV's, Jagdanther and Jagdtiger. The vehicles are ovbiously named with "Jager" in mind, not Jaegdpanther, for example.
THOUGH JAEGER seems to be some type of seabird where I assume they took "Jager" from for it meaning hunter, as the bird is a hunter.
Who needs school when we have search engines!!

But in the end, Yeager is indeed how it is pronounced in basic English.

Germans say yahgd or Yahgrmech Yeager it most certainly is not.
