Hmmm . . . . So you know why its called a CHALLENGE!
Not for everyone. Its should be hard, be glad you shouldnt stay alive in the end of won match. Like it was in Victor challenge, that one was hard, this was easy like sunday morning

Gameplay would be normal in standard queue, though reduced population.
It could also use a separate challenge Elo, to account for the changed gameplay of the kill rush.
A separate queue could allow some more extreme challenge types.
Such as bounties (kill bounties player earn a point and become bountied with a target over head, remains until killed a few times).
Get headshots.
Kill with flamers.
Kill with LRM or NARC/TAG assist (LRM storm from hell mode).
Kill without taking any damage by end of match.
Potentially game wrecking challenges, but in their own queue and not excessive hours required to achieve and that's not a problem. Something different and only suffer it for a few hours.
I like the idea of using weapon x to get a point. Or the headshot one. However the kill with no damage would result in people spamming LURMS and the running away to hide and shut down.

I just find the best way to do this challenge is to just not care at all whether you have a point or not. Then, before you know it, you get the Redeeming Items popup.

Every now and then I failed (trying to scout and running into a lance or two).
I think this challenge was not that hard to beat compared to the "to the Victors" and "Like A Champion I" events.
Of course there have been matches in which people ran around like headless chickens, getting themselves killed = loss for the team. Sometimes people just would not leave kills to those who "deserved" (most damage done single-handedly in 1v1 combat, when an ally came like a shot for a kill shot) or "needed" a kill (matches with a kill count of 6!, though they were asked to cripple enemy Mechs only).
But all in all this event was joyful and entertaining.
Thanks for the give-aways, PGI!
Question: When will we get events where you can get a Clan Mech?

I don't understand why anyone hates having challenges. I don't find that it disastrously changes the playstyles. Generally, everyone will continue to play how they normally do. If I start getting anxious, frustrated, unhappy, etc. because I'm not meeting the challenge, I either quit playing MWO, or I just quit playing for the challenge. Enjoy the game for what it is, and only "take part" in the challenges if you are having fun with it.
Really, life is too short to be mad at a video game. I get frustrated with the people sometimes, when someone has a bad attitude, it generally makes me more unhappy as well. But as far as the gameplay goes, I don't care if they do challenges or not. I look at everyone of them as a nice to have bonus, because I'm going to be playing MWO for the fun of it either way.

I can get the kills and assists on skill alone, wins takes an act of the Dice-God, Nuffle. Nuffle likes suffering, btw.
I think it prevents people from getting an assist, getting a kill, and then bailing out of the match to drop in the next one.

I think that's the secret. I got my 3 days premium time, and life is good.
I think some here forget, this is a Game, and the purpose of a game is to have fun. If you're not having fun....why play?

Here's my most frustrating game:

So my final stats are in for the challenge:
63 games total
28 team wins
--Of those wins, 12 games I got assists but didn't get a kill,
--Of those wins, 16 games I got the requisite kill, and assist
35 team losses
--Of those losses, 23 games I didn't get my kill
--Of those losses, 12 games I got my kill and assist
All of this was over a 12.5 hour period from Friday afternoon until now, averaging about 1.5 hours per session. In between this I was moving furniture, shoveling snow and drinking beer which may have affected my performance somewhat. I will also say I wasn't in "challenge mode" in any way... Just playing for fun and doing what I normally do.
So all told 16 points total. Had the Win requirement not been there (just kills and assists) I would have almost doubled my points and had 28 points for 63 games. Slightly less than 50% of my games played would have qualified for a point.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In the end I had some fun. It was a little frustrating to put in serious work on people, take a beating in the process and then have the pack swoop in to take the kill. I had one particularly frustrating game on HPG in my BLR-1G where a fellow in a DW just followed me around, waited in cover until I had opened up a torso section on an enemy mech, and then would come around the corner, alpha once and take the kill. I ended up with 11 assists, 800+ damage, and no kills that game.
I earned a few million c-bills and 3 days premium time for my efforts so I can't complain too much. I know people are polarized about whether this system is a good one for challenges. I, for one, would like to see another metric used. Match score, for instance. Match score measures much more than Kills/Assists/Damage, it also accounts for role warfare and total team contribution.
I'd love to see a challenge where, say if Match Score is greater than 50 you get a point, greater than 100, get a bonus point. How do people feel about that? Is that a fair way to score a challenge?

Hah, I tried putting in excel as well. Some interesting trends, mainly that the vast majority of my points were earned in matches where I survived to the end. And yet I failed miserably in the Victor challenge.
I would point out though that there has been a lot of variety in the challenges and events lately. There was the stocking stuffer event, the Operation 24 one, the one where you got MC (!!).
As long as there is variety and free stuff I say keep it coming!!

Get (X) number of kills...
Get (X) number of assists...
Win (X) number of matches...
Destroy (X) number of components...
Get (X) amount of damage...
Get (X) number of solo kills...
Get (X) number of spotting assists...
Have (X) number of matches where you have the top damage...
Survive (X) number of matches...
Etc.
and any combination of the above.
In other words they become like achievements and hopefully game play doesn't suffer.
Forcing people to try and do everything ALL in one match kill/assist/win is just a horrible mechanic. Having to do 150+ matches to finish a challenge is not a challenge, it's just a grind. So either extend the deadlines so it isn't a grind, ie. over a week, and you can just play for fun OR actually make it a challenge that DOESN'T change the game play during a match.
Tired of getting cored in the back, arms shot off, killed, etc because people are trying to get THAT kill. OR people jumping or pushing in front to get that kill instead of you at the last second. OR people trying to get as many kills as possible just to NOT let someone else get a kill. OR the ones that run out of bounds, etc. so people cannot get a kill.
I shouldn't be pissed at my teammates for getting a kill, even if I dumped 100 points into someone's CT and they do the last little bit to get the kill. AND having to do "something" and win the game means to many people getting pissed at their teammates. I saw to many people disconnect the instant they thought the match might be a loss to go to another match AND really bad chat being posted because of the challenge.
SO... with my limited schedule this weekend I got 46/50 the first time I have missed completing a challenge. Hopefully PGI turns it on again next weekend... except I will be out of town for business.

Man don't be rude
I played only during saturday and sunday.
And you can see, there was no one disconnected . . . look at the DMG for example.
So thanks, I was good and LUCKY . . . I think.
( BTW for me it was 76 matches for 35 points - Raven statue )
Please accept my apologies; and I take my hat off to you! Good effort!
