Hey fellas, I was wondering if any of the experience, Kreditz, or mechs obtained during the closed/open beta, will transfer over to the general game launch/release.

In World of Tanks they didn't, and they were screwed over royally, as some people had paid during the beta.

Your thoughts?

They gave out free gold during the World of Tanks beta. I find it VERY funny if anyone paid for more.

And I thought they said XP/credits earned after Aug 7th will stick in MWO.

They have said that after the Founders gain access on August 7th, the server will not be wiped anymore. So, anything you earn after August 7th should carry forward into the full release.

Anything before August 7th gets wiped. August 7th and beyond, you keep what you kill (so to speak).

So untrue....you clearly weren't in it. They gave out free gold during the Beta, no one paid for anything.

As for this game Aug 7th is the date for your stuff to stay. Prior to that anything earned gets wiped. In effect, Aug 7th is the "launch". It surprises me somewhat as that gives those in on the August 7th date a big big advantage in addition to getting early access over those who don't.

I'd much prefer it all to be wiped for the official launch date so everyone gets to start on the same level, as much as possible.

I was in it, I just got the weekly free gold, that was given, I thought the shop was opened in beta, as I had never bought any. All I remember is that we got Sherman, for release.

It will be an advantage, but I think to call it a huge advantage may be an overstatement. It will create some stratification for the early stages of the game where there are some players who have a little bit more advanced piloting and a larger selection of mechs and weapons to choose from, but that's about it. That early stratification may actually be good for the game in the long run, but it won't last forever. People will catch up to the founders.

And because I don't quite understand what Argann is doing with all the Robbie Rotten pics, I'll counter with a little Sportacus of my own.

I hope your right.... the equivalent of Founders in WoT was basically the Beta testers who paid out on day 1 of release in WoT.

Those of us who did so, did have a massive advantage over the new people and those who didn't pay, and that was on day 1 of release.

I just dread a repeat of that scenario in MWO, and it would seemingly be worse than WoT, as not only will we have the experience advantage, but better pilot skills, more credits, mechs that earn more xp and credits, better and more weapons, leading directly to better load outs etc etc. I guess it depends how long from August 7th to full release more than anything...the longer thegap the bigger the advantage to Founders.

The outcry on the forums of WoT, and in game was horrendous. While I agree it will eventually even out, the few weeks that takes to do so could be a very painful experience for newcomers to the game, I just don't want the whole "pay to win" argument to kick off here on release day like it did there, because that could be very damaging to the all important first impressions of people.

Maybe I'm being a bit pessimistic, and I know I'm also a Founder so will get any advantage, so don't think I'm saying this out of fear for myself, I'm clearly not, but I think getting the extra creds, xp and experience is more than enough of an advantage already.

This will also be the first game I can recall that doesn't wipe and start over from Beta to Full release.

Just seems a very odd thing to do, but let's hope the devs have thought about it carefully...

Well, they could also want the Founders to be well "Founders" and be established in game. Ie Proper Corps being set up, they want us to essentially shape the game. The newbs will flock to us for our exp and already well established Merc Corps, this I believe will have a staying effect, as their will be some stability already in play.

That's basically what I was thinking, as well. The houses and merc corps will need leadership, and this will provide it. That's not to say there won't be some complaints, but I don't think it will be too terribly bad.

what he said x2 + the founders, all of them, have invested in this game. that being said, theres a love and devotion there that will be hard to crush, but not impossible. i think in the short run the advantages are well deserved. and the stay-toit-tiveness of those players will add a longevity to the game that will make any monetary investment by lovers of the game well worth it. IMO.

Actually some people wanted to buy gold for the WoT beta but that was only allowed on the Russian server (no idea why).

In one of the blogs there is a post by the devs says the game will not be reset after Aug 7th which is the same day that founders get early access to the game. I am assuming that on this date the closed beta folk will be kicked off and from there the founders will be playing the game live until the F2P masses are allowed to jump into the pool some time later.

Why would you get to keep anything from the beta? What F2P game lets you keep things you unlock from the beta to the release? That's only going to cost them money in potential sales. When the game is free they have to do something to make money.

Well, we are the called "founders" right, wouldn't we be the legacy of the beta. It's not like we wouldn't spend money later on on things as well, they know this. It makes sense. Some of us spent 120USD, and will likely spend more at launch, why wouldn't we be able to hold onto our goodies?

I know it stinks of "entitlement, but they can still get money out of us, and us as a way of keeping people playing.
