I know this has probably already been talked about but I never found the thread.

I was playing MechWarrior Living Legends the other night in a Catapult, when I thought, "Is it possible to do damage by jumping a several ton mech on someone ..." I eventualy tried to make like Mario and stomp a goomba (Uziel) and did absolutely nothing.

It would add a realistic twist to combat if a mech could jump on another and do damage. If this were to happen i could definetly see certain ambushes of mechs jumping from above. Besides damage to the top were the feet land, the legs would take damage too from the sudden and massive increase in on-board weight.

Btw does the thought of a Jenner perched on an Atlas' shoulder bring a chuckle to anyone?

Death from above is in MW:O. AceTimberwolf said he did it at E3.

MechMario... this is a valid MW tactic and it has a much cooler name... DFA, or Death From Above.

I hope to see it in game as well, was always a challenging but fun tactic in previous MW games.

I asked the same question earlier and was told that D.F.A. will be in the game.

I don't know, it always seemed useless to me unless it's a 1v1 fight, because when you smash their cockpit in, their allies can just hammer you with AC-20s until you either get up after falling down, or explode. Because, let's face it, realistically, you'd fall flat on your rear after that.

Good to know. This certainly adds another interesting dynamic to the game. I for one am glad they took the time to add it.

That's a fault from the original game, aka Crysis/Crysis Warfare.
it's not in the game's coding, so adding it in a mod is... difficult to say the least.

Pfft, I got one that's at least 20% cooler: Highlander Burial.

Not only is there going to be DFA, but evidently there were plans to have a module within the Assault/Defense tree that provides DFA Damage Reduction. Very important for anyone focusing on medium to heavy mechs.

Remember doing DFA during a trial with my Merc Commander. Impressed him tons...Hard move to pull off in MW4 though...But looking forward to doing it again in MWO!

Jumping on Mechs will be the only way to play.

The trick is you perch your UrbanMech on top of a building and when two mechs go past and pause before going around a corner, you DFA one and unload the autocannon into the back of the other. You gotta watch your ammo with the R60L variant, after all.

The proper name is a Highlander Burial... which happens when 90tons of hell drops on your head.

Hah yes,I remember in the BT card game using an actual Death From Above card... build a Quickdraw (60 tons, so it's a heavy with jump capability) and use it to pounce on a heavily armored assault... you'd kill one of their super expensive mechs (say a masakari) at the cost of a really cheap one. And if you have a Rasalhague deck, you can get the mission card back and use it again and again.

Yes, I'd be very glad to have this in MW:O
