So how about it? I want free look in 3rd person, Though not at all useful in combat it is still cool and I would love something like a 3rd person free look with zoom in and out a bit.

It would be nice to use as a screenshot function

Voted no. It would allow people to see perfectly behind them which would result in quite a s***storm. While combat in 3rd person is kind of garbage free look would still give an advantage to using it over the people who want to play 1st person only. That was pretty much the reason why 3rd person sucks to use.

I'd much rather have a Halo-style 'theater mode' so I can watch my 'mechs in all their glory!... and all their fails :P

neat yes, but it was left out so that people cant peek around corners. though hopefully they enable free cams in private games and in the testing grounds

I would like to see a more "cinematic" external view as a spectator mode or in private matches but for general play?

I vote no.

well thats why we all have that little drone above our mechs, so even if we do use this to take advantage a enemy player would be able to see the drone and go "oh, theres someone over there! kill it!" I honestly do not see the advantage of this in actual combat and I have yet to meet a GOOD player that uses anything but FPV .

How to fix 3pv
By Burktross
-----------------
1) Unnerf 3PV,
2) Enable a "fog of war." All areas that you can see in third person that you otherwise cant see in first person would be greyed out. You'd only be able to see the map in these places, not enemy mechs, projectiles, or anything else.

I don't know, I kind of like being able to see whats behind me after all if I recall all other games allowed you to see behind you and see enemy units as well.

only people who would hate that are those that use ecms and stay behind the other machine..

Yes this would be great if this was added for "damage assessment" for the sim and vanity to check out mechs. Have Betty say, "damage assessment drone launched".

I dont like 3PV piloting either because it ruins the sim, as anyone who knows anything knows. But since they added a drone to improve the sim and didnt make 3pv piloting unrealistic its fine. Although it could be removed to.

It would be used to cheat...and absolutely ruin the game.

How about free camera mode which is paralyzing your mech but lets you control camera drone above it? And also some time to reactivate your mech.

Or maybe just make it available in the testing grounds. That way if you want to use it to take a few funky screenshots you can, but no possibility of gaining an ingame advantage.

Well it would be awesome if the 3rd PV would be enabled in CW with a freelook for any mech having a command console.

would buff this 4t piece of junk to soemthing command like.

Why don't use 360 camera drone without targeting option?

Voted no. I want 3rd Person View only in private mode/ testing ground. I'd like the idea of "landscape mode" for screenshot purposes in game.
