Russ just said on Twitter that we should be getting the Ebon Jaguar concept art today. It was supposed to be done last week, maybe we'll be getting new squat legs instead of big fat Timber Wolf legs.

A lot of us have been thinking about whether it will have decent hitboxes or suffer from Nova syndrome (short and wide), as well as the possibilities of being a dual Gauss mech.

Speculations? I'm hoping they are fixing the legs and finalizing new art.

EDIT: Art is up and it looks like we got reasonable legs as well as nicely placed launchers and possible shield arms.

looking at the silhouette it looks like it will be shorter simply because of the torso, legs look like they are shared with the twolf.

I would think it would be interesting to have another squat mech like the Adder and Nova. It makes for more variety in style. We already have tall bird like mechs with the Stormcrow, Timber Wolf and Mad Dog.

In MechWarrior 3 the Cauldron-Born was very narrow, in MechWarrior 4 the Cauldron-Born was very wide and in MechWarrior 2 something in-between. So it's hard to say.

Looks like I'll be dumping another $90 USD into MWO, over the next little while....

Good weapon mounts though; all near the cockpit. I wonder how the 3E ST will work; will some be super high mounted like those missiles?

Even if they're all torso mounted like that ERML, still pretty decent.

Those high mounted side torso weapons should be very handy. I wasn't sure how it would look...

Damnit. I told myself I'd hold off putting more money into this game. I don't like being a whale.

I suppose the build of choice for me will be 2xGauss, 1 in the Right Torso, the other in the Right arm. Strip the left arm completely for more ammo, and put in 3-4xERSL as backup weapons. Should allow for 4-5 tons of gauss ammo with appropriate armor stripping.

I didn't want this mech; now I do.

Yep, it looks about how I expected it would, like someone stepped partway down on a Timber Wolf. It's a bit more leggy than I thought it would though. That said, it actually looks better than the original artwork IMO.

I don't think it's going to have the same problems as the Nova, the Nova is literally a ground hugger, with a really squat body and low slung arms to boot. Its hard points are mostly badly positioned and it's weapon payload is extremely limited with a poor amount of pod space.

The Ebon, on the other hand, has hardpoints in mostly good positions, and if it's as leggy as it looks in the concept art, hugging the ground is *not* going to be one of its issues. Also, the weapon arms are just below shoulder high, unlike the Nova. Plus, it'll have plenty of pod space and a variety of hardpoints. So no comparison, really, except being wide.

Crap. I was hoping they would screw up the art so I could talk myself out of buying it. The nice thing about this pack is how much more info they gave us than the last mech packs. I could actually go into Smurfy and check to see what customization I could do with the 30 free tons and with the fixed slots. For instance, I know I can run dual Gauss with 6 tons of ammo, should able to run dual UAC20 (if fixes come March 3rd), but cannot do dual LBX20 or AC20.

Considering some of the minis depict shoulder mounts like the missiles (Cauldron Born H) and the fact they at least modeled the ungodly Timber Wolf A shoulder mounts, it might be a decent bet that we will get at least 2 Energy in the shoulders.

I like the way this looks, I really do but the thing was made....well here have a quote from Sarna.

" It was made to ambush its enemy with a low body, similar to the Lyran Bushwacker, that makes it harder to target. "

It needs to the lower to the ground I think, besides the tactical advantage that brings ....it just gives it more of that Iconic look :)
