Nah. The main reason I like Battletech is cos the robots *arent* like the ones in super-robot anime. I like my mechs chunky, clunky and with chicken legs, thankyou very much.

Asian market is the best paying F2P market.

There is a Tencent game called Crossfire that makes even more money than World of Tanks. Its literally pay to win Counterstrike.

$500 gold mechs? In China, someone paid $16,000 for a rare sword in Age of Wulin.

Actually the Asian market doesn't really care much about mechs, even mechs in the Japanese gaming market has declined (see Armored Core vs. Dark Souls).

We had heaps of asian players stretching from Australia all the way through Indonesia, Malaysia, Japan, Sigapore and lots of others.

They know about BT and some are even mad Lore mongers. The reality is that many got bored with the delays and issues and have moved on, in the meanwhile telling their friends not to bother. Couple that with ping issues, because there are no local servers, making ping at best 250 and often a lot higher they go and do other things. I know quite a few that have move on to War Thunder.

Timezone and their prime time has a lot to do with it as well.

They are there but there could be a lot more of them. A server in Singapore or Australia would have a huge boost on numbers.

This.
Not to mention a few of us that have to move to the asian region.

More awesome than a MechColle would be to do a Hetalia based on the Battletech factions.

, I have no issue with the MWO mech aesthetics--except the penis-head Urbies.

The Stalker is also deliberatly modeled on male genitalia.

If you listen to PGI talk about their player base, they'll talk about Americas, Euro and Australian. I never hear them talk about Asia and yet Asia has a quarter of the world's population and some of the most hardcore gamers. I wondered why that is. Then I saw KanColle and mecha-musume and it donned on me why. Simply put, not enough sex-appeal/mech-pr0n in their mech designs. I mean, compare their mechs/tanks to ours. Just think of the "alternate geometry" we could really have:

Imagine if this were the Direwolf boating UAC/5:

or the Dual AC 20 Jaeger:

Shadowcat:

Kit fox:

Make a manga and an anime to cross market. Get the kids watching the show and they'll grow into the game. Just think of the marketing possibilities!

Yes, this isn't a serious post and is really in jest, but it would still be awesome to see some fan made drawings of our mechs as anthropomorphic versions of themselves, like the kitfox, timberwolf, or /shudder the urbie.

If you have no idea what I'm talking about then look here:

Note: some of the pic links aren't working. Not sure why...

If they need mech pr0n to play, then we don't really want them anyway, tbh.

If you're telling me that, under my protection suit and my neuro-helmet, there is a (cute) japanese school-girl wearing 20th century school clothes, you and i will not be friends.

Also, average age of the MWO playerbase means a lot of people here have a daughter, and that may be in conflict with having weirds and legally-questionnable passions for little girls...

There are many additional qualifiers I can add to the description, but I don't think that'd help the end results....

Then again, you're Davion, I'm Kurita, so that's a foregone conclusion. :P

I like to give factions their own personification.

You have a plush high school called Inner Sphere Gakuen.

The power pyramid of the school seems dominated by four girls.

Davion-chan
Type: Hime type, Rich witch class
Appearance: Blond with curly locks with a busty figure. Always has an underling that holds an umbrella over her head --- even indoors. Tends to wear frilly clothes and carries a fan.
Other characteristics: Runs the school's Tea Club and frequently holds tea gatherings in the school grounds. Popular in school, everyone looks up to her. She is very smart, a mistress in machinations, charming. She has a naive cadre of "knights" that do her bidding.

Steiner-Chan
Type: No Delicacy, Strict Disciplinarian type
Appearance: Blue hair, wears a monocle. Tall and busty, she frequently wears baggy pants with black boots and is constantly surrounded by tall, muscular bodyguards.
Character: Everything seems to be done with a greatly exaggerated overhanded manner. Lacks delicacy and other feminine attributes, which puts her in odds with Davion-chan. Has a very straightforward if not a naive outlook in life. She tends to speak in a low voice. Steiner Chan runs the school's Disciplinary Council and she often patrols the school grounds to make sure people abide by her puritanical rules.

Kurita-Chan
Type: Nadesico type
Appearance: She has long black hair, frequently wears a red kimono even in school, and carries a katana with her.
Character: She prefers her green teas over Davion's Earl Grey's and holds her own tea ceremonies. Her Green Tea Club rivals Davion Chan's Tea Club. She tends to be cool and collected, frequently practices archery. Her home is a jinja where she serves as a miko.

Liao-Chan
Type: Loli Yandare type
Appearance: She is short, flat chested with twin pigtails and green hair. She frequently wears kung fu clothes.
Character: She often tails Davion-Chan and ambushes her, though Davion-Chan tends to win most of their matches. She doesn't come from a rich family so she despises Davion Chan and dreams of one day of taking her down. She is very good with martial arts, and despite her size, she is very athletic. Tends to view things in grandeur colored glasses.

Mariko-Chan
Type: Loli Megane type
Appearance: Short but not as short as Liao-Chan and appears flat chested as well. She wears glasses and has purple hair. Her eyes are often not visible and covered by the reflection of her glasses of which she has a habit of adjusting.
Character: She is a bit of a loner and somewhat sides with Liao-Chan against Davion-Chan. She excels in science and her mind is very good with machinations. She blames Davion-Chan for her lack of popularity and considers Steiner Chan a threat to her Science Club.

One day however, the Inner Sphere Gakuen got invaded by outsiders from a small, rival school, the members are determined to take the territory for their own. The invaders are led by four girls.

Ookami-chan
Type: Twin tailed tsundere type
Appearance: Short bratty look with a visible fang on her mouth, long twin tails and red hair, busty.
Character: Very aggressive and prone to violence, she seems to be the leader of a mysterious pack of girls invading the Inner Sphere Academy. She lacks delicacy and tends to be overhanded.

Hayabusa-chan
Type: Loli military otaku type
Appearance: Short with shot green hair, often wearing a camouflaged military uniform with a grey midrib.
Character: Gung ho, shoot first ask questions later character. She has her own suspicions about Ookami Chan and views her as a rival.

Kuma-Chan
Type: Oopai Kuudare type.
Appearance: Tall, busty with silver hair.
Character: She is cool and emotionless, a foil on both Ookami and Hayabusa chan's characters. Tends to end her sentences with "-kuma" which seriously annoys the other two. She seems very calm and collected but the other two fear her when she gets really angry.

Jaga-Chan
Type: Sexy neko type
Appearance: Sexy grey haired catty girl with long flowing hair that tends to wear revealing clothes along with her glasses. Has thigh high boots with sharp heels.
Character: She tends to snicker and goes "ala-ala" While calm, her manner of speaking denotes a sneaking aggression. She ends her sentences with "-nyan" which also annoys Ookami and Hayabusa.

I really miss Legend of Ares.

That was a good game. The Korean version is still played though.
