Okay, Role playing aside because someone pointed out to me that they don't get the Seraphim connection with Pandas and Twinkies and this ransom note style.

The following is for those who want to look behind the curtain and get the history of where this mix-master of messages came from.

The Panda Underground is a running gag in the Seraphim from way back when by one of our more original members, BLUPRNT (round of applause) who came up with the silly idea we had Pandas running around on Asuncion, our chosen home base of lore. He took care of them and fed them Twinkies and semi-domesticated them. It became a fun thing in TS to joke about the Pandas, the Twinkies they ate and stuff like that. So I started writing them into our lore in our recruitment thread as having a panda enclosure on base and they were all semi-tame. The original panda that BLU came up with was named Angel, and she became the mascot of the Seraphim's 2nd company, the Pacific Rim.

New pilots to the Seraphim often get the "Panda Enclosure" treatment, being given clean up duty, or forced to share bunks with our friendly population of black, white and now red pandas.

After the loss of Asuncion happened in the early push of CW, we took Old Kentucky at the same time and uprooted for temporary quarters closer to good booze to go with our Marik space bacon. This left me thinking, and I started the whole idea that the remaining members of the Seraphim, support staff and families had to abandon base and flee, "rebels from Hoth" style and not everyone escaped. So I started playing with some of the Davions about taking care of the Pandas, which was kinda fun.

So I went into GM mode and thought about the situation. This meant the few remaining trapped behind the lines of Davion would continue the fight outside of their mechs or jobs, hiding in the populace. Then the idea struck me of our conquered planet having a French style resistance, and figured why not? I saw a picture of a panda holding 2 pistols and said to myself.... self.... that's a funny idea. Imma take that and run.

And thus... the Panda Underground was born with Agent Angel at the helm. The portly precocious panda became the symbolic leader and our version of the Guy Fawkes mask.

And what better way to get out the message than "Anonymous" style as best can be done through a forum post, but really, more inspiration was taken from ransom notes, Casablanca, "V for Vendetta" and "Live Free or Die Hard". Since the HPG in the area would be controlled by Davion, the Panda Underground would have to hack the satellites from time to time to get messages out to the Seraphim and Marik. These are the ones that Davion COULD see, but couldn't stop. I was also inspired by the silly revolutionary rhetoric of Betty Kaboom from the video game "Tropico 3".

So expect more updates from the Panda Underground as the resistance to Marik enemies grows and the pandas go out and forage for more Twinkies. This is only meant as entertainment, and not for personal attacks. Images used are not making any statement beyond being in-game representation of funny, faux-revolutionary rhetorical, or ironic/satirical nature.

If there is something here that is offensive, first assume that it was done in jest, not deliberate insult nor to troll any one or group in this game beyond a Role Playing means (lets face it, if your planet was captured, you'd not have a charitable view of your captors either. If this is still untenable, CONTACT ME SO WE CAN DISCUSS IT OR I CAN MODIFY IT!!! I am having fun here, not trying to be a jerk. On the other hand, I'm not going to shut this down just because someone's being over sensitive or has a case of 'umadbro?' from something else.

For those who enjoy this, thank you. I am glad my posts are fun and entertaining for you in the context they're offered.

Okay, we're all on the same page now I hope. Leave the channel open... you never know what or when something will be sent.

The Debriefing

“You know, a long time ago when you guys talked about taking care of the Pandas, I thought it just was a metaphor,” Roadbeer said as he and Kjudoon watched some of the giant pandas play in the Seraphim unit habitat on Asuncion.

“Yeah, well, it's been sort of a hobby and distraction for the men. Started out as a joke, and became something all it's own.”

Roadbeer snorted amused, covering a laugh, “You're telling me!” he stated with nostalgic surprise. “BTW, those twinkies your Vet cooked up are nasty!”

“I warned you! Those are Dr. Pflummox's special blend for these big lazy goobers.” Kjudoon leaned over the cement wall to shout at the bears “Ya hear that! Yer big... lazy... goobers!” A bear stopped chewing and flopped a paw back and forth again, waving.

Taken aback by the action, Kjudoon muttered “I see you've taught them a new trick since we were gone.”

Roadbeer laughed.
