Thanks man I appreciate it. With the current weather here in Co Springs looks like I might be off tomorrow and able to have time to play it lol. Downloading this "patch" is taking forever. Hopefully this is all I will need and then be able to play.

One big patch will take care of you. Subsequent patches (every 2 weeks normally) will take much less time.

When you go on to mechlab (top menu bar in-game) you will see a bunch of trial mechs. These mechs are meant for you to try out as much as you like before you spend your cbills from your 25 match cadet bonus on your first, owned mech. Keep running the trials until you have a good idea of your preference.

You could also ask us for our opinions. Do bear in mind though that we would prefer to hear of your preference so run those trial mechs as much as you can. I still try out those trial mechs even though i played this game for quite a while.

Hello and welcome. I am also new here so I can't help you too much but plenty of help is available from this wild and crazy bunch. There is much to learn at first and you will be up against many superb players with well-equipped mechs. Dragnier1 is right about the trial mechs--that is the purpose of the trial mechs. I also spend some time just reading the forums and found plenty of answers to questions I didn't even know to ask. Good luck and fun--just try not to stand toe to toe with these guys slugging it out at first like MW4. I found out the hard way...took about 8 seconds. My first lesson.

So... about that patch tried downloading it and it stopped in the middle of the night saying there was a corrupt file on it. I didn't know what to do so I decided not to finish it... is that normal for the patch?

Instead of pressing the "Patch" button, click the gear icon in the upper right, and run the MWO repair tool.

That wouldn't work for all though. I understand some have issues from doing it this way
