Today I had time for just a couple of PUG drops, so I got in there and slugged it out a bit. One of which ended in a first for me: 10 kills for us, 11 for them, with me left standing against a Jenner and a Timber Wolf. Took out the Jenner, we were on the desert map and both the TW and I were running hot, so trading shots between overheats.

When I was waiting for a cool down, I'm noticing the chat messages from my Team saying things like, "We're going to lose," or "He's going to get killed even though he was in better shape coming in."

I've got some thick skin, and I've been playing a little over a month so I get that people are wound up about winning. But when people like that were just blasting away at me when I'm doing all I can, I was tempted to just power down and let the TW finish me off anyway just to prove a point.

THAT is the very reason I have avoided Teamspeak for years, and will never use the in-game VOIP.

So the point of this: If you're a newbie and want to have fun with this game, find a good group, join with them, and play with those guys. A good group is going to be fun, supportive, and teach you the ropes, help you out when you're in that situation.

yes, I agree, I really hate those sort of comments not least because they will frequently become a self fulfilling prophecy, if you loose confidence in that sort of fight you will loose, It also proves the people making those comments to be inconciderate and poor looses.

it would be far better to offer tips e.g. to someone who is overheating "whenever you overheat you give the enemy an advantage so fire fewer weapons or wait longer between firing" or on seeing someone fire LRMs inside minimum or outside maximum range "LRMs do 0 damage inside 180m or outside 1000".

those are far more helpful than "silly n00b we are going to loose" (and that is extremely tame compared to some comments which I have seen and frequently reported people for

some units (including the one I am with) have a code of conduct which specifically precludes this sort of negative team chat.

:OP,

Best way is to keep them in mind, or even make a list of them... then when they are on the enemy team, be sure to take note, and try to be the one that Flashes Your name, killing them, Followed by a message with Nice fight :insert name: Kill them with kindness, as Revenge is best served with a smile.

As for this event, i have been having a rough time, My wins are over 2/3's of the matches,, But man getting kills this weekend has been eluding me lol..

But honestly man, don't let it get to you.. 98% of the people i have played with are nice, and friendly, don't let a couple trolls ruin your time.. you can also Mute people too.. though i do wonder if the mutes are saved from match to match

Thanks guys. I don't let it get me down, just offering the advice to other new guys out there to find a unit and join with them. I played for several hours last night with my team, and they were all great whether we won or lost.

For me, it's a totally different experience doing team drops vs. pugs.

Units will literally open many doors in this game that others would never have discovered without them. The group queue is a massively different experience with an organized group to drop with. Sure, you still lose some, but you win more than you lose typically, and have fun.

This is the BEST way to take revenge. If you do it right, they won't even know you're not 100% serious and that in the back of your head a voice is yelling "Ha! HA! Suck, do I? HA!"
