After having and awful time last weekend I thought I'd give it try to see if the experience was any better. It isn't.

I just had a game where some guy was upset he didn't steal my (only) kill so he decided to leg me for it.

The last couple of weeks have really put me off playing MWO.

Another Grind-a-Thon. Is this all PGI can come up with for events. They must look at the number of people playing their game when they hold events like this and think people like doing them...so they keep doing them. Seems like this whole game is a Grinding machine ..so i suppose the challange fits.

Thank you for the opportunity for the free mech and goodies!

Unfortunately, this means another weekend of "friendly-fire-a-palooza"

I actually like the adder chassis and am glad I already have them all mastered.

Now to log in for some frustratingly predictable behavior among the playerbase.............

80 points seems like alot to cram into 4 days...

Especially when people work full-time...

And need sleep...

And that premium time for me equates to maybe one day, given work, and sleep. :/ With no way to shut it off, I actually hope Premium time ISN'T a prize...

What about events that focus on teamwork, like the lance challenge?

Or the Faction Challenge?

I understand you about the PTime, but about the events proposed:
1 - Some of those have been done in the past and people without a team felt obligated to join a random group of strangers on TeamSpeak to be eligeable to win something
2 - You already have something like that active into the game, called CW, where you win LPs and with those you win prizes.

Sadly, I think this event does indeed bring out the worst in players. More so than the last, much complained about challenge, people do not only eagerly seek to get their kill and assist, but they also quickly loose interest after getting those, oftentimes even outright disconnecting. There are some great matches, though, but overall I don't see an improvement over last weekends challenge with the "win"-condition.

Additionally, I, running light mechs, see plenty of time absolute pathetic performance from whole assault lances (there are exceptions!) which makes me wonder if people get into assault trial mechs, running for a few alpha strikes, sweeping one or two enemies and then call it quits.

As always, those are only my thoughts and I thank PGI for giving away free stuff and to try to adjust the rules according to feedback. Maybe match score next time?

Of course its not an improvement over the last challenge. It is basicilly the same thing, will even take longer for quite a few players.
But it also does not need to be an improvement imo. The whole thing is entirely optional and if you are able to invest a lot of time you get a free mech and free mech bay. If you have less time you get 3 days of free premium time at least.

From my games I did not get the impression this event made players worse. But I have the feeling it makes people play more agressive which shortesn game time. That is something I like because I cant stand drawn out camping/poking battles.

Two matches in a row I got my side torso taken off by my own team because I was headed for a legged mech. Another Match I got legged by my own team. People are not playing as a team this event, they are acting selfish and it is a detriment to the entire game. If I had just started MW:O this weekend I would never play again. People are also stepping in from of firing weapons to block others from the kill. You need to rethink the 1 Kill+1 assist thing. Not sure what you could do, but obviously taking the "win" out makes the game even worse.

this is one of the worst experiences ever, whoever thought snipping out the WIN for getting a point should reconsider now.
having 3 hours of not getting a single kill is one of the last things i experienced here and i already seen alot of things.
people dont give support at all.
people play turretshooter on top of hills not moving at all.
Hitreg beeing so absurd that the only weapon that works properly is a gauss.
nothing but PPFLD loadouts out.
teamplay? even worse than normal.

i hope for a challenge where you can only get points through the primary objective i.e capping the enemy base on assault, getting 750 points in conquest or killing all enemy mechs in skirmish.

just get away from this stupid method that is beeign used currently. or dont do challenges at all. maybe the best thing for this greedy community.

This no need to WIN is so horrible.

I thought it was good thing before event started but after lots of games were team plays like many idiotic individuals without common goal I've to say:

EVENT SCORING IS TOTAL BS!!!!

Of course you're right with the challenges/events being optional and all that. My comment on the improvement was mainly aimed at the dropped win-condition. Something which a lot of people demanded last week - an opinion I didn't share.

Quite the opposite. I would like to see an event, where the only condition for point qualification is a won match, nothing else. Of course, the evil match maker and all. But it would not drive people crazy rushing into the enemy for their personal benefit.

So might have been stated but I have no looked....It will take 50 games with a kill and an assist...Found out some games I have more then one kill and the assist to match it...still only got one point...So JUST fyi no need to try to get ton of kills in a game if you are grinding this. 3

Well the matchmaker makes it so that everyone wins about 50% of his games. So with the condition you proposed everyone just needs to play about 100 games if he wants 50 points. Could then as well just make "play 100 games" as your condition to win the mech.
As it is now with the kills you get your points faster if you are a better player.

I tend to disagree. The matchmaker supposedly balances teams, but if one team does like in the current event, i.e. everyone rushing for their singular k&a and the other team actually tries to win the match, chances are that apart from promoting teamwork, they will have a higher chance of winning because they work together.

And that's what many people complain is lacking in current events and challenges: Teamwork, as one of the basics of MWO.

Well is your win rate about 50% or is it not? Talking about solo queue.

Over single games effort etc can make a difference, but over 100 statistics shows it power and you will be at about 50%. You can not escape that except you are VERY good (or VERY bad).

My w/l is below 1, fwiw. The matchmaker, no matter how sophisticated, can only match teams based on their stats. And there is an obvious difference between just showing up to a match and actually trying to win it.

edit: And that's because - assuming halfway normal gameplay and people - in their past matches, people mostly also tried to win. So that kind of performance determines their Elo. I am not arguing that statistically and given a perfectly working match maker it will take the average player 100 games for 50 points (reward thresholds can be adjusted). It just is a big difference if it takes 100 actual tries to win or 100 times just joining the match.

matchmaker doesnt care about wins much. it just cares about balancing the ELO out.
that makes stuff even worse with low population.
hell i lost 12+ battles in row. i never have such a win streak.

And Elo is a direct function of wins/losses, nothing else.

If you are indeed able to get much more losses than wins then you have to be close to the bottom of the Elo curve and I feel sorry for your team mates.
In any case the players wont be consistently worse on your team than they are on the other.

Btw if this event really makes people play worse as you claimed (not supporting each other, rushing in stupidly etc.) then this should make it easier for you to get kills not harder. Because these bad players are on both teams, and you obviously dont play worse because of the event.
Really the more stupidly people play the easier the game becomes for the levelheaded player.

Thing is, people who are complaining ... if you play decently well you will get that 1 kill and one assist, irrelevant of how you team does (unless its a 2-12 stomp)

Its time to up your game (and surviving the longest in a match does tend to have you reach that one kill and 1 assist rather then "leroy jenkins" it)

currently at 40 points, stopping when i get that color

its more than just win/loss ratio.
also i am far from beeing on the low elo curve.
and no its not easier because as i said you dont get the support you need for some mechs. if you dont play the meta/ppfld crap you struggle hard in this one. thats all.
