I am not sure about the different mech chassis, since this is the first time I have played online in any MechWarrior or MechCommander titles and the variants of the 'Mechs differ to what you could do in previous MechWarriors, which is why I find myself confused about if I bought the right 'Mech chassis, and if it can hold 1 or 2 ppc and 1 lrm 20+artemis...
Does anyone know anything about good Mad Dog weapos configurations to equip and use, any help would be most appreciated.

Yeah, usually I would agree with you. If there was any backup weapons that also required heat that would provide better dps for a prolonged sub 180m fight then the extra heatsinks for better dps would be my choice as well.
Thought in this case the lrms will be available when trying to cool from the ppc, unless within 180 meters, whereby the advantage of this loadout would be diminished. Otherwise the engagement range will most likely allow a safe disengage for cooling, since the 6% and 0.6dps granted from the heatsinks then stands to be weighed against the benefits of the targeting computer IV of:
Zoom distance: +5.25%, Sensor range: +5.25%, Time to gather target info: -52.5% (most notable), Projectile weapon projectile speed: +10.5%, Beam weapon long ranges: +10.5%, Beam weapon max ranges: +10.5%, Increased crit chance for projectile and beam weapons: +20.5%
