Every time I take a screenshot, my entire client locks up for several seconds, leaving me unable to maneuver, fire, or even get a response out of the game.
This happens with both F12 and Print-Screen keys.
I'm running Windows 8.1 with 24 gigs of RAM and a GeForce GTX980 on an ASUS G751 ROG laptop.

Would like to get some input on this, I'm experiencing the same issue. Game freezes for 3-10 seconds the first time I screenshot during any given session, but only on the first time each session. It's like the game is trying to figure where the screenshots folder is and it can't find it.
In case it matters, running the 32b client on Window 7/64b, 8GB ram, Intel i5, HD integrated graphics.

I have had this problem too, and more recently the "pause" has gone from a few seconds to a almost a full minute.
For me the problem seems to have started when the screenshot directory was moved from MWO to the User directory.
Any help on this? I like screenshots of fun stuff during matches, but lately it causes me to get killed.
