Make lights earn double points, maybe that's enough to get them to stay consistently above 5% dropping.

tbh lights are already very good at claiming a kill and getting an assist in the PUG queue, arguably with quick queue times they have the potential to finish the tourney faster than other classes. But sure why not double the points for lolz

I don't miss Lights at all. Especially with HSR being the way it is. If people do not wish to drop in it, then let them be.
As a class that is most likely to survive til the end of the match and is perfect for clean-up duty, Lights do not need a crutch. Especially since winning is not a requirement.

I've gotten all my points with a Firestarter A and my Adder Prime.

I'd argue that surviving until the end of the match isn't caused by their powerlevel being allegedly over 9000, it's because of being a lower priority target.

If you see something like a Dire Whale or a Mad Cat, and there's a Commando close to it, it's a natural instinct to try to focus on the one that poses a bigger threat (aka the one with way more guns).

except in this challenge, people will shoot the comando cause "easy kill"...leading to getting stomped as half the team chases lights or discos

Firestarters are already bad enough... Giving them double points will just encourage more of those buggers to come out and troll.

TBH, it makes my job easier when the enemy is honestly too occupied.

Whether it should be easier or not depending entirely on your skill level with lights, the queue is horribly low on lights causing a lot slower matching.

Been using the queue times to power level the lights I had been planning to work on for a while. Out of 27 matches so far between Firestarters, Badders, and Cute Foxes, I have qualified in all but 3. Kill stealing or coring out rear torsos is easy when higher priority targets are numerous to absorb fire.

I'll definitely take double the points though, would certainly make this challenge less of a grind.

My point still stands. The Lights are perfectly fine in their ability to get a kill precisely because the enemy will ignore them til the last phase of the match--when everyone will have exposed components.

I remember 3 Heavy mechs huddling in fear in a corner near the end of the match because they have exposed torsi while a single healthy enemy Spider toyed with them and then devoured them.

Exactly. The thing is, the light can be just as dangerous. I was just in a Tourmaline match and this is exactly what happened ... everyone ignored the little Locust 1E blazing around in favor of the heavy mech in front of them. And 4 to 6 seconds later they were dead from rear-cored. It's really a catch 22. You can't ignore the big nasty in front of you, but you can't ignore the light behind you that has fangs the size of turkey-basters.

I'll be honest since everyone wants a kill that isn't the case and they rather try to one-shot the commando then hit the dire whale. That's why we had about 3 dire wolves left last match.

I love the low numbers in lights. Makes it really easy for me to find a match in my 5D. That being said, it's really not that hard to get a kill and an assist in any mech. I actually find it easier in lights, which would suggest that there would be more lights in queue, not less. There must be something else at play here.

Nah.

First off, us light pilots don't need double points, we're doing just fine without them.

Secondly, people aren't dropping less in lights because of lack of points, but because lack of alpha makes their lack of skill show. They need higher alphas to score kills, and they won't get that by doubling any points.

Edit: As a point in case, I just got out of a match where I, in my not-even-mastered Panther 10K, got a match score of 103, 3 kills, 6 assists and 587 damage. Best match score on my team (both teams, really, since we won), most kills, second on assists. Double points on that would feel like cheating.

People simply have not come to the realization that Lights can kick ass in this challenge. Give them time.

With a modicum of skill, lights are the best choice for these kinds of challenges. IMO

Well, i started this challenge with my RVN-3L, trying to maintain a civilized approach to the game for myself. Which means i scout a bit, because there aren't much Lights (even less then regularly) for obvious reasons. I provide ECM for the Assaults, watch the flanks etc. Whilst these challenges, i have the feeling MWO completely turns into some sort of Quake. As you move to designation, it happens that Assaults or Heavys are so blood- thirstingly rushing thru, they just stomp over you. I had 3 matches in a row with hurt legs, not even having seen the opposite team yet. And why? Because obviously your teammates want to get a free Light Mech so bad they turn into completely reckless individuals? You know what, i keep the ECM for myself, play sneaky safe, backstab, steal your kills if possible and take the rap for being the "elite lights cliche/ not serving the team". Better than getting stomped for your good intentions :-) Or maybe i just do something else, for as long there are these actual challenges last.
