I wanted to check the community warfare map without joining a faction, I noticed if I hit the sidebar menu of "Create a Unit" or the following it would actually let me check the map without being in a faction if I hit a various combination of escape and the left hand side menu. It then somehow issued me a permanent contract with clan wolf.
I have broken the contract for the 1m c-bills which is not a big deal, but it kinda sucked that this happened.

Simply put, you were taken as a bondsman. Welcome to Clan Wolf!
It seems to rarely happen, but it does suck. Check into joining a unit. Aside from all the other benefits of playing with people in a social environment, I've not heard of this happening to anyone in a unit.
