Speed Is Everything

To put it mildly i have been struggling alot, unless its my dakka dire i have been on the receiving end way too often then just to blame it on pure chance. The thing is that if i get into trouble with a slow mech, i cannot get out of it. I cannot shoot my way free just have to stand there and get obliterated. If i run my IFR i can get in and out of trouble quickly as the mobility allows me to run behind cover or to teammates before enemy gets to do much harm.
I'd say that the minimum speed at the moment for heavy/medium/light is 85kmh. mechs are so mobile now a'days that you are smoked unless you chose to go along with the assault lance teamates and risk getting shot in the back and blocked and to get Airstriked.
Maybe its just me going for the flank as often as i do that gets me into these situations, but i don't think so. The mobility has increased and ppl often run off when they encounter a group of enemies leaving the poor slow mechs in the dust.
I have a Jaeger Gauss sniper and its very tough to find a area where you cannot be seen, and snipe enemies.without getting singled out, and picked apart by an enemy ACH.
Feel kinda bored to always have to go for the speed-laser meta or Direwolf or bust.

fast, hard hitting, ideal for ambush, flanking, assault support ( IMPORTAND ) and to scare the **** out a off A-cheaths or firestarters.

Yes, i'm sure its viable if its fast, but make the wang do 64 kmh and im sure it would pose a far less threat to enemy ACH, i wish i could make slow mech atleast respond quickly on torso twist to be able to track these pesky little vermin.

Fast XL IS heavies lose a lot of durability for what usually amounts to 10-15 kph more speed or 5 or 6 more tons of weapons. So you get fewer screw ups and the clan mechs that are just as fast as you get to have more firepower and be more durable so I'm of the opinion it just isn't worth the sacrifice for IS.

Every other mech I consider using goes at least 80 KPH, which still on the slow end for me but it's acceptable, and also with the exception of my VTR-9S those slower mechs are also pretty much entirely long range builds.
That said, I don't avoid slower mechs because I think they're bad or anything, but rather because they tend to not fit my playstyle. I learned how to really play this game with my JR7-D, so I'm used to piloting fast mechs to get into good situations (or, more frequently, out of bad situations) and because of that it's tough for me to play any really big and really slow mechs even if they do have a lot of armor & firepower; my Victor is by far my heaviest mech and that's still 20% away from max tonnage and I only use it with a huge XL 370 engine.
