This is a modified image showing how I think the gauss charge crosshair would offer a better queue:

This was a charging-shot based crosshair cut and pasted from a different game onto a screen capture in MWO, but you get the idea.

That looks a lot like a charge meter from Warframe, probably because it is.

In any case, though, I don't really see a need for a proper charge gauge. It's only one weapon system, and the charge time isn't exactly dynamic. To use it effectively, you either look for a green bar, listen to the audio cues, or just learn to time your shots. It isn't exactly "newb-friendly", but that's part of the reason every 'Mech isn't boating a Gauss Rifle at the moment.

I am aware of the current mechanics of how the gauss works and I believe there is a lot of room for improvement. True, it's not priority, but I do not know how PGI keeps track of their projects so I'm just putting it out there for them to be aware that this is a request.

The tiny box and the many sounds going on in an intense fire fight are much harder to notice than when things are calm. Also, as some adrenaline begins to pump, my timing becomes warped. I have discovered that I am unable to fire any other weapon immediately off cooldown while I'm concentrating on firing the gauss. I need better queues.

I'm sure plenty of people are right there with you buddy. But I don't think it's the Gauss that needs a UI change. I think the UI just needs revamped to better convey information for all weapon systems.

How about having a choice of reticle?

Speaking of UI and crosshair i think that ability to change crosshair opacity and color would help greatly. Because sometimes in some maps when intense action is happening it becomes hard to track/see it - a sky blue crosshair in snow map for example.
