So I don't see how Clanners are gonna fit in with the C-Bills system while remaining true to Lore. Also will they have Loremasters?
Anyways, maybe as you win more battles you get more "bondsmen" or whatever (note- this can refer to men or women, as the Clans are not very PC though Ghost Bears have gotten more so recently, and Wolf in Exile are more forced to be)?
I mean bondsmen are a major factor in the entire Clan lore, as is the extreme collectivization of resources and living styles in general. To my knowledge a Clanner really owns nothing save for his/her bondsmen.
Also with respect to Mercs, recall how important hiring Techs is. Indeed the secret of the Kel Hounds success in many ways was the foresight in hiring the best Techs.
In other words, I think it would be nice if human support resources played a role. For Successor States/Mercs this could mean keeping a certain staff of Techs or supliers, Regular being assigned and Merc being paid monthly/weekly C-Bill salaries or whatever to lower Tech costs, refit costs, re-arming costs, etc, or for Clans, a bondsman is eventuallhy won through battles, or whatever, and used in the same way (but only last so long as one has to cut the cords eventually. )
Or do you think the Bondsman system would be too controversial? Also, as a side note, how do Clans prevent the gross abuses of Bondsmen? What if a Clanner is deranged and like to do crazy things with a bondsman which is in many ways an indentured servant?

Clans and bondpersons....

slavery isnt an option.
there are too many, very angry threads about the clans as it is. no one knows what a year will bring in MWO but if clans are going to be in the game, they will have to play by the same rules as the inner sphere pilots.

Clansmen and women are bound by honor not to abuse their bondsmen. Treat them harshly, yes, but the bondsman was taken in battle because they showed themselves to be warriors of skill. If properly indoctrinated, they could become assets to the Clan Touman.
However, the developers aren't saying we can play Clansmen, so I doubt bondsmen would even come into actual gameplay at all.
Also, there is money in the Clan lore. It's not like they can't earn an allotment. Clansmen just don't use money for the sake of greed. (Unless you count Clan Diamond Shark, but hey...)

Are there any punishments for abusing your bondsman? Say a Clanner decides to chop off his bondsman's middlefinger for a flick?

I'd say there were punishments, but more of the kind you'd find in a boot camp setting. Removing fingers would reduce the effectiveness of the bondsman as a warrior (and as a servant), and it would require an expenditure of resources to fit a prosthetic. And if you're in the Clans, you know better than to waste.

Now, I'll admit that I haven't read everything in these forums...but come on. There's been no clan announcement as far as I'm aware, so all these clan threads seem a bit silly. Especially because the dev's could make this game set in AU, and have the clans show up much later than they did in canon.
So for the sake of keeping ourselves sane (and civil) on these forums, shouldn't this all be put to the wayside before speculation drives us all mad?
OT: The human support resources angle could be a good idea. Spend a few C-bills on repair techs and get a slight reduction in repair costs for x battles. It could add a bit of strategy into the game, and give the people without an extreme amount of time to practice the game a way to stay competitive by dropping a few dollars real world.

Clans will be playable they already semi-announced it. I don't see them giving you Isorla though so no taking other players as slaves lol.

Maybe if they implemented salvage bondsmen would work. Otherwise, dont let players enslave others.

I dunno...I mean, the game already isn't going to be within the mech canon so there's almost no reason you'd need to have this unless it was a legitimate gameplay mechanic.
