So, I have now started to increase my ownership of 'Mechs (now up to two, Relena, the Catapult and Misty the Mist Lynx) - but I was wondering, because my favourite 'mech has not been released (the CRB-27 CRAB - one I urge you all to support for the devs to introduce, if you have any experience with it!)
So now, I am wondering if I should buy another Heavy 'Mech or a Medium 'Mech - the only problem is, is that I know next to nothing about which 'mech chassis are able to equip with equipment (ecm, jump jets ams, bap, target comp etc) and through a series of poor choices, I have wasted now almost 20 million C-Bills on 'Mechs that did not live up to what I was hoping for, even after changing loadouts etc.

Basically, I was wondering if anyone would be so kind as to recommend a Heavy or Medium that can equip jump jets and/or ecm, but in the Heavy, I would like at least one lb-10x or any type of autocannon, but the Medium, 'Mech, I am not fossed about with weapons, the jj's or ecm take priority for the Medium.

Sorry for the long-winded speech.

Have you been eliting your mechs? If not do that first. I recommend an assault or medium. Battle master or maybe a shadow hawk.

It sounds like you need to plan out your builds in Smurfy.

I use this before buying any mech, and I'm quite sure a large number of people would say the same.

Can't agree more. Smurfy will save you a ton of time in the mech lab, as well as C bills if you goof up in mech lab. I ALWAYS build in Smurfy first and just copy the loadout in mech lab.

The only heavies that are in your requirements is the Cataphract (CTF-3D) or the Summoner (SMN-D).

I have tried the Shadow Hawk on a few occasions, but it just does not seem the 'mech for me, even after trying out various loadoutson it when I had once bought it.

Cheers, mate, I will definitely give that a read through before earning the last 2 million C-Bills on a Clan 'Mech I will most certainly regret later.

Yes, i had figured as much, after spending 40 minutes last night carefulfully going over each 'Mech specs, and while the Cataphract seems intriguing, the Summoner I have never really piloted before and, as I have not checked yet, I might consider giving it a trial run, if I can, later this arvo (this afternoon).

Definitely been keeping an eye out on a Hellbringer - if you can believe it or not, of all the MechWarrior games released, I have never piloted a Hellbringer?

Well, whatever I decide on, I will have to check those links, see what i can do to configure them with good weapons and then start my trailing in using multiple weapons instead of just 2 types.

Thanks for all your advice, everyone, much appreciated :-)

One more thing - When you buy a 'Mech and it gives you to name it - if you do, when you are out in a match, does the name your 'Mech appear in the HUD and also the enemy's targeting lock? I have always wondered about that...
