My megamek, with Canon only units selected, says 6,736 mechs and variants.

There are still hundreds of mechs to go. If MWO is still around 10 years from now, well, presumably the game will have been doing well enough that they'll be able to figure something out.

Could always crystallize meta into different playrules, ie, "Age of War" "Clan Invasion" "Jihad"... with corresponding mechs/tech being limited to each era, or open, yada yada...
