There are things you can do to make it more efficient as far as the cores go as well....

This is the one a guy in my unit gave me...had to make some changes but still good place to start!

d3d11_TripleBuffering=1
r_MultiThreaded=1
r_MultiGPU = 1
sys_physics_CPU=3
r_HDRGrainAmount=0.0
cl_fov=66
gp_option_ShowCockpitGlass=0
r_DepthOfField=0
i_mouse_smooth=0
i_mouse_accel=0
i_mouse_accel_max=0

ok so the d3d11 is for direct x 11 ? does it mean that multi thread only works if u play under direct x 11 ?

Lol, what is DoF and Film grain? Seen it on these config file threads, but what is it and in game whats it look like?

And is there a cfg that can brighten the place up a little? The brown contrasting against and on everything is annoying....walk around a corner staring right at a mech and cant see it cuz its camo'd up perfectly to the brown wall behind it.

Depth of Field is the distance at which things appear sharp. By default it is turned on so enemies at a distance look blurry. When you turn it off you'll find it is much easier to tell what kind of mech that is 2500 meters away on Alpine.

Film grain is an effect that makes things look... grainy. Check this out: http://mwomercs.com/...grain-optional/

I don't think the DX version you use has any impact on hyperthreading availability.

r_DepthOfField=0/1 (off/on depth of field)
r_HDRGrainAmount=0.0-1.0 (film grain amount)

Last time I checked these two options were locked out, check the bug report link in my signature. I haven't tested the latest patch, but there hasn't been any mention in the patch notes about it.

That's actually a good question im assuming no. But we know what assumptions are like...

Id assume you would run d3d10 or d3d11 depending on the directX you are using but I will pluck his brain when i see him tonight and find out exactly!

I don't think we'll ever figure out on our own what works and what doesn't. It's very annoying that PGI won't tell us. I even tweeted Russ to ask him to help but didn't get a response.

Ok. is there a list of what can actually be modified on this thing? What are the parameters for said modifications, and the effects on your gaming system.

Plz let's try to be concise and precise. There seems to be a lot of witch doctor info about this.

If any of you can get some devs involved on this topic, even better.

Look up Crysis 3 user.cfg on google.
It'll give you a list. Those that can't be modified just won't work.

Film Grain: The effect you see on every Call of Duty game to make everything look more 'dirty' and war-timey.
"Film grain: Adds graininess to the displayed image in order to evoke the look of an older film."
Shown here.

Looks like this when really heavy.

Depth of field...changes focus for things near and far. Great when it's dynamic, but it is not dynamic in MWO.

This isn't the best example, but it's on here (though isn't set as dynamic).

I like it better off......wondered why I never liked the feel of CoD games.....Cod2 looked good, but the later versions...always looked off to me....

And on an unrelated note, why is it when I put the game in DX11 mode, I get all laggy and jittery and jerky and jumpy, but when I put it in DX9 it runs fairly smooth. FPS stays the same and I actually have incredibly good ping most the time, rarely above 50....but DX11.....yikes, it runs like crap, even in Training grounds.

Dam that game looks amazing...........
I am so tempted to leave this MWO crap for elder scrolls now. Not even on the same category of gaming experience.
Talk about immersive.

Could use some help. I created notepad file, named it user.cfg and placed it in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Piranha Games\MechWarriorOnline file. -I see a "USER" subfolder in this same location but didn't place it there.- I copy pasted the below txt into the file, saved and closed it, then launched the game as administrator.

However I don't see any difference in the training grounds and I would expect the FoV to be pretty noticeable. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?
gp_option_ShowCockpitGlass=0
r_DepthOfField=0
r_HDRGrainAmount=0.0
cl_fov=80

*I tried fov=85 as well.

just tried the launching with and without the config basics (FoV cockpit glass etc) and it makes no changes for me. visible area is the same, at least on my hellbringer and the glass is still annoyingly shiny.

not sure if its because its locked out or not.

i used to run some of this stuff back in beta because Catapults felt like you were licking the damn cockpit windows XD

HERP DERP DERP. forgot to set the file to not be .txt. dont mind me.

That was it. Thanks! I'm going to have to play around with the hyperthread thing too. My old motherboard recently died and this CPU/Mobo is SLOW.

DoF makes distant images blurry. It's ******** and makes your visibility like forest colony all the time.
