I did have a brief look but might have missed the thread in my haste.

Do we have any indication if we will have the Chameleon?
It'd be a shame not to have it, if only as a salute to the Crescent Hawks Inception that started most of us down the Battletech path :)

I haven´t seen anything about it yet, but it would be a great Mech to have in the game, since we don´t have a medium fast moving Mech by now. It is a good replacement for the unseen Pheonix Hawk. And though it is from the TRO 3058 (i even remember it from the first BT-Box), it is Tech Level 1, so we could have it right at the start.

Agreed. And it'd make a nice change from the autocannon-heavy, slow moving mediums that seem to be the current focus. It'd be nice looking, too, given how the Cataphract turned out and that the Chameleon shares a similar design style.

It's only drawbacks limiting its inclusion would be its canonical existence as a training machine (that has, in some instances, "been forced into combat situations") and its tendency to promote laser-boating.

hmmm a Training mech could add a few options for game play...

a simple single player Training Mode for Traget Practice and Heat Managment... Devs could set something easy up for that, have the Chameleon (Player) face off Sitting Targets to start off with, Teaching the player what happens to the Armour on the Target at the same time as keeping an eye on Heat build up on the Players mech...

Then get the Player used to shooting Slow moving and Fast moving Targets, and then Moving targets in between Obstacles ect...

And then have a Drone shoot the Players Chameleon Mech to teach how the Armour and Damage Control system works, then have the Player hunt down the Drone or Drones...

and then what ever else needs to be known about the game...

was also thinking something like a newbie starting zone, 12 Chameleon Mechs vs each other, this would be for upto 10 Games for new accounts only, just to learn the ropes of the Full MWO... sorta like WoT does

Then you get to keep your Chameleon, but hard to say what it could be used for again after the Beginners session

it's primary flaw as a combat unit is armor. almost half what it can carry, I've always been a fan of the chameleon, not sure if it was due to crescent hawk game or due to the first intro to the TT was training you how to play using a chameleon (first battle was in a Archer though :)) wow..that was a long time ago..mid 80's

it was re-introduced in the 3058, but other then the varients it's pre 3025 (two larges and a ER Large, 50% more armor and double HS? Jumping mini-me Flashman!)

I would never turn down the addition of another mech, even if it's not one in which I'd be interested. More diversity is always a good thing!

I don't see the point in opening a thread for a single mech and asking a question no one can answer.

If this habit would spread we would have houndres of threads starting with "Will mech XYZ be in the game?", and all of them would end with Cmdr. Shepards final words: "I don't know."

We do have a fast moving medium. It's the Cicada. Fastest mech in our list, actually.

The point in opening the thread was to generate conversation on the topic of my favourite mech from the 80's
and hopefully see that others are just as interested
and thereby gain the attention of the powers that be and maybe make them consider it, if they had passed it up already or just not thought of it :(

And what does it matter if there are a bunch of 'blah blah, xyz mech' threads? it's not like the forums are exactly compact and short hand haha

once the Forum expands more over time, im sure there will be places for Discussion of Mech Additions to the game, apart from the Suggestion section that would get flooded with Mech this and that

The Chameleon would be a great addition, having this in place of the P-Hawk would be a great little trade until the Unseen debacle is sorted.
