So why did they changed that? I haven't found anything about it and it drives me crazy.

For those who didn't noticed yet, all (?) cap points in conquest where renamed. kappa is now sigma, theta swapped with epsilon and so on.

This seems to follow no pattern... what was the reason for this? beside trolling playerbase which is totally valid.

Maybe it's their idea of keeping things interesting.

Well theta was always the 'middle' of some maps so its likely that they did this because of that? Just a guess.

Cap points and spawn points should be randomized for all maps.

There should be no pattern.

I can explain how this happened, if only to disabuse you all of the notion that we are out there actively trolling the players.

A few patches ago we had to reorganize all of the content within the level files into a different layer structure to accommodate a new system for including/excluding assets based on the current game mode. This is what allows us to have the doors stuck open on Counterattack mode in CW, and so on. In the future it will be useful for time-of-day changes and other map variations.

Now that the level content has been moved into these new layers, I guess it gets initialized in a different order now by the game, or something, and now the names are shuffled up. This also affected which spawn point gets used in training grounds (which earned me a bit of grief already). Anyways I've heard some talk of being given the ability to manually name the various conquest points, though I can't imagine that is super high up on the programmers' priority list.

Okay now you know why. And rest assured, folks, when I'm trolling you - you'll KNOW it.

Cheers

Yeah don't change your guide just yet. I just talked to the guy, and the system for naming them manually is already in the works. (We already have it for Invasion mode in CW). Once that's done we could change them back to the original way very easily, or more likely, what I'm hoping to do is give them more descriptive names specific to the individual maps.

Either way sit tight - don't know the ETA, but it's probably not worth updating your guide until after that stuff happens.

I noticed the change of starting point in the training grounds in the last patch as well. I assumed it was just the by-product of tweaking the testing grounds to add more functionality or something.

It really doesn't make sense that they should be the same every time, to be honest. In the absence of new maps you have to breathe some kind of life into the old ones.

this tidbit. does this mean in the future, maps will randomly have day/night? maybe random weather elements? this could make all the few maps we have more replay value.

^ THIS. This would add so much to what we already have. Almost like additional maps being added.
REALLY looking forward to this

I simply hope the points are "standardized" in a reasonable manner.

I'm just used to referring to "Theta" as middle of the map.... argh.

My guess was wrong, always thought it was setup like that for some purpose.
