I can't think of any other images, but there are several MW:Mercs quotes that have stuck with me.

Wish I had TT and the friends to have played it with in its hayday though. Sounds like a spectacular way to spend few weekends. A few people in my unit created a TT-like campaign they enacted through private matches in MWO. I got to act as the OpFor in a few missions and it was fun being the bad guys on occassion. Even got to hire an assassin or two at a staged protest and watch the chaos ensue. Everyone had their huds off and was just after SIB got released so the SIB played the coppers at the protest.

Me being a black guy, I always laugh at the thought of being Hardcase, whenever I get to cocky and die early in a match.
Now that there's VOIP, everyone on the team can hear me say "Ejecting, ejecting ejectiiiiing!!!!!"
I still watch this intro all the time. Mechcommander was such an amazing experience when I was a kid.
Hardcase was badass. I actually tried to take that as a name, but someone beat me to it.

I showed up to my cousin's house where he was proceeding to smash on mechs in Mechwarrior 3. He was a total bad ass with his brand new Microsoft sidewinder joystick murdering things with ease, where as I had a barely functioning computer at home that only ran DOS and some weird version of hangman. I watched him play for almost an hour, all while being totally envious as he went into the mech lab to edit mechs that I had never seen before.
That's when my uncle showed up, slapped him in the head and told him it was MY TURN! He then exited out of them game and put in a different disk. Thinking it was going to something stupid, I turned to him to ask to put the robot game back on, he just smiled and said "Watch" and as I turned back around I saw this....

Edit:
I had never seen something so AMAZING! Plus that brand new joystick was totally worthless, and that made it so much better.

Then my dad got me MechWarrior 2, which seemed really cool. It was a state-of-the-art game at the time, and it still impresses me today. As I got playing the game, I started putting two and two together: This game is in the same universe as that cartoon I used to watch!
And yes, like many others here, I can still hear Betty announcing the 'mechs as I scrolled through them in the 'mech lab. The missions were memorable. There was one on a snowy planet, Colmar I think, where I had to fight a few 'mechs with my Marauder IIC. Another snowy mission involved fighting Jade Falcons while defending a fire base. But the first mission in the Wolf campaign was Operation: Silent Thunder, where I had to destroy a Jade Falcon HPG. The mission environment, with a sunset giving the desert an ominous red and yellow glow, really made the situation seem very serious.
As for iconic battlemechs, it's the Atlas, Battlemaster, and Timber Wolf. The Battlemaster is one of my favorites in both looks and weapon loadout. Its looks in particular attracted me because it reminded me of the standing tanks in Battle Clash, an extremely fun SNES game played with the Super Scope.

If you use Facebook, there are a TON of groups dedicated to TT gaming, mini's, bartering, books, et al.

This is another one, but I was already deeply entrenched in the Universe/Game at the time this came out.

Your shuttle/dropship crashes and a damaged Locust is the only thing you have to fight off several incoming mechs... yes that was my intro to the BT gaming scene. Man, I had to fight so hard to pull that one off (I have a tendency to set games on 'Hard' mode even the first time I boot them up).
(I was already into the TT and tech manuals before that; from them, the Warhammer on the boxed set sticks out as well)
Surely there's gotta be money in updating and re-releasing these games?

I still remember the day when my dad purchased that game for me. We were at CompUSA together, and they had a demo set up to showcase the game with an instant-action match all set ready to go. I don't remember much apart from moving around and shooting at things with the joystick & throttle, but I must have really REALLY enjoyed it since my dad wound up purchasing the game for me (I had an awesome dad

What I DO remember vividly is the video that plays when you start the game. it's so awesome that I still get goosebumps when watching it.

Anyways, here's the video:
