I'm not sure if this happens for others, but whenever I start heating up and take a small step back, if the steam particles cover my cockpit or if I fire off a large number of LRMs and the smoke clouds vision, my normally comfortable framrate that hovers around 80 plummets to <10 for a few seconds until the smoke/steam clears.

Is anyone else getting this? It's been there for months as best I can tell.

Yep. Incredibly annoying, literally the only thing that slows my game down is that GODDAMN overheat smoke.. and i can't turn it off in graphics settings because (afaik) its linked to particles, and turning those down makes LRMs and PPCs look awful... ill be damned if i run the game looking crappy on my high end PC

also pretty annoyed about getting shot by people i cant see due to their low settings allowing them to see through stuff that i cant see through, but i dont see a fix for that, since you have to allow for people with crappy PCs.

I basically can't run my TDR-9S on Boreal because of it, which is sad because that's the map it's best on.

I turned down particles because winning>graphics, but it only helps a little.

GTX780, otherwise same setup. Strange that we drop to the same FPS, clearly an issue with the code being able to handle those effects as it isn't on our end if you have a framerate drop 2-3 times as big as mine.
